Thanks for all the trans advice - Went with Goerend

I did some customizing to my shifter, I removed the stick shift lever and replaced it with a Hurst chrome stick. The shift knob is a black plastic ball with the right (6 speed) pattern. The knob is in the same exact position as the stock shifter and there has been no alteration to the throw or gate width so the mod is only cosmetic but looks awesome. Someday I'll get a digital camera so I can post a pic.

I just called BD to ask about this new shifter.

They're on the shelf and the price is $250 U. S. plus shipping. It gives a 20% reduction in throw length, from 5 1/2" to about 4".

I'm not associated with BD in any way, just really excited about a shortened shifter for our trucks Oo. Oo. !

Unfortunetly, the house needs some work first.

This kit was developed on my 00 6 speed truck when I had it. When we took the proto of for manufacturing I hated it until I got my proto back. It really make the truck a joy to drive.

One word

Sweet :D

Who's got one out here on the left coast so I can try it?

Does it make it easier to row through em all at redline? :D

Only regret I have with the 6 speed is how long it takes to get to the next cog. I hope this is the answer Oo.

short shift???

Blair... any chance of some pics? Could you provide any info regarding shaft length, bend, clearance's, is it billet construction, direct replacement bolt on?

Steve

The kit comes with a billet aluminum spacer and a new lower shifter lever. It takes about 1/2 an hour install and is a direct bolt on, no mods and still uses the rubber isolator. I don't have any pics but like I said once you have one you won't go back. The fiver is a little different than the six speed but we're working on it.
