FASS I and FASS II

Better FASS II Pre-Filter Options

I just crossed the threshold for the 100K warrenty. Before exceeding this mileage, the Dodge dealership replaced the lift pump with the one that goes within the tank. My fuel pressure now is 4 lbs (max) and very easily goes to ZERO upon moderate acceleration.

I am thinking of spending more $$$$ :{ to try and prevent another injection pump failure (which now is on my nickel). Have had good luck with the BD products and am thinking of adding an aux fuel pump to again increase the pressure to the VP44.

Am curious is anyone has experiece wit the BD aux pump? I know the Fass is very popular but it is a little more $$$ I want to spend if I can avoid it.

Thanks for any input on the subject.

I checked into the BD about a year ago, still works with the stock lift pump and you will still need to replace the stock unit if and when it fails (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong). Now I can't remember the price on that to the dime but I want to say about 250-300$ for the BD kit, that will put you about half way to a FASS system or equvilant. If money is an issue I would go with a big line kit and move the stock pump back to the frame, should put you in the 150$ range

When Dodge replaced the stock lift pump on the engine, with the new in-tank version, I wonder if they also upgraded the fuel line size from the tank to the engine?

the bd pump kit is good and will be what I am using soon. you still need a good luft pump, but it will prevent future lift pump failure as the stock pump is not required to pull fuel any longer from the tank. I like the fast that it does not turn on before the engine is running, it is operated by a oil pressure switch, to prevent hot start problems from excessive pressure. also easy to install. but yes you can also run a standard pump inline. Im still debating because I may use a walboro in line pump.

They didn't on mine, they put a block were the old pump went, and reinstalled the same restrictive banjo bolts. (lower presure from pump, and same restricted fuel flow). Try the "Vulcan big line kit, and elliminate the restriction. ( my $. 02 ) Your VP will love you for it. And the BD pusher pump kit uses a Carter HP4600. So you could save $$$$ buy getting it from Jegs or Summit. and install your own hose. Also my $. 02. "Ironbutt" :)

I agree with Turbo Thom

Why not just add a pump inline. Dosen't matter who's.
The in tank pump, got rid of the restrictive tank module, just leave a stock lift pump in the original location,in addition to the pump in the tank, will net you more than enough pressure and volume for your truck.
