Have a 99 2500 and after replacing the stock pump several times I decided it was time to upgrade pumps, and it looked like the pump from BD diesel would work.

Anyway..... Installed the bypass pump that I purchased from Summitt Racing per the instructions from the web and that came in the box. The instructions are a little confusing since they include info that applies to the auxilliary pump BD also sells.

BD and Summits info claims that the pump will deliver 12-14 PSI at idle. When I fired the pump I got 9 PSI at idle (the filter is new).

Called BD and got a knowledgeable, helpful tech guy that told me to check voltage at the new pump (this pump connects to the factory harness). Voltage requirement for the pump is 12. 5 volts (this was not in the info) or there is an exponential drop in pressure-ookay.

The voltage at the pump was 11. 7 V, tech guy said a re-flash might get the voltage up. Oh, I forgot two techs at BD said that even though the pump is advertised at 12-14 PSI the best I could hope for is 10 PSI.

Ran power direct from the battery and with the truck running I got 12. 8 volt and 10 PSI, but when I accelerated even mildly the pressure dropped to just under 5 PSI.

Would appreciated input as to whether I could run the new pump in tandem with the stock one running both pumps from the harness. Not sure if the haness carries enough amperage or how much pressure I might expect. Could use your help.

Just had a FASS HPFP installed. First time I have ever seen 15 PSI. They run $455. If you choose this route, call Eric at Vulcan. His kit includes a much better fuel line than what is sent with the FASS.

Fass and AN line w/ AN fittings. I know, I know... spendy. But it works great. Lots of volume and plenty of pressure. My FASS went out and I picked up a Holley Blue at a local parts store in some small town. Back up and going in an hour. Still have 9-12 psi. with the blue.
