Well, that's not the complete truth. Actually, the air compressor gave up the ghost after 4-1/2 years. I nearly croaked when I realized a replacement was $375. I really hate to tackle projects that require you to remove the wheel-well and fiddle around in tight places but today the job was completed with help from #3 son who is a diesel tech and doesn't mind helping out the old man. Yes, I did find a Viair 275C on ebay for $124. Has anyone located the air compressor in a more convenient location?

I looked and looked but could only think that I would have to pull something out to make room, and that might not work too well, LOL. An appealing location might be on the right front behind the bumper, but....

Thanks for posting. If this last replacement will last five years neither the truck or myself will be fit for the road, LOL.

My BD exhaust brake stopped working several years ago. It worked great for 2 years but apparently my computer in my 06 Dodge stopped supplying the power to the exhaust brake. I have had it checked out and the BD works but not getting power from the computer. I don't want to spend over $2000 for a new computer.

Gaylejoe, have you checked the ground from the switch? I apologize for the question because I suspect that is one of the first things you probably did. Operating the exhaust brake manually and bypassing the ECM is not a bad thing.

I went manual after Banks Exh Brake controller could not be used w/Smartry Touch. The "Angel Eye" mounted directly into the hole vacated by the cigar lighter socket! The Red LED ring light on mine was way too bright, so I experimented with resisters in series with it until it was not distracting at night.
My notes:
BLK & BLK/TRACE = EXH. BRAKE "ON". VAC SOLENOID VALVE ASSY. P/N 55138, $165.
EXH BRAKE HAS TO BE PLUGGED INTO OBD PORT. Since this Banks does not work with the Smarty on a "splitter cable", I hot wired the Exh. Brake "Angel Eye" puch button switch for manual control.

Good luck friend. Wally
