BD exhaust brake question?

Hello all I have a simple question. i bought a BD turbo mount exhaust brake for my 2000 3500 24v cummins automatic. The question I have is do I need both the BD pressureloc and the BD autoloc converter control to be used with the exhaust brake? Or do I just need either the pressureloc with the exhaust brake or the autoloc converter control with the exhaust brake. thanks in advance

To answer your question, BD recommends that you install an AutoLoc when using an exhaust brake on an automatic transmission equipped truck.

This is to and ensure the torque convertor lockup clutch remains locked up through the effective RPM range of the engine braking, thus enhancing the braking action and allows the transmission temperatures to remain low.

As for the PressureLoc, it will increase lock up clutch holding pressure by @30 PSI when the torque convertor is in lock up.

Considering the fact that lock up clutch pressure is controlled by the throttle valve circuit, when coming down a long incline the throttle will be at idle so pressure will be low and could cause the clutch to slip.

Thanks for the info but should i still use the pressureloc too, I was a little unclear about your response. I understand about the converter control. It sounds to me as if I need both to optimize the BD exhaust brake.
I appreciate your patience in this mater because I am a new cummins owner and only want to install it once and for the right reason. Again thanks for your patience. #ad

Before you purchase any product to make your torque converter lock up, call Bill Kondolay at DTT and talk to him about these devices. He will give you the truth as to the pro's and con's of these devices.

To answer your question, use the engine brake with an AutoLoc!

If you find that the TC is slipping on braking or to help prevent it from slipping, install a PressureLoc.

The most complete way, especially if you plan on increasing the power of the engine, is to go with a Valve Body upgrade. This will give a broader range of improvements such as increased pressure, fluid flow, and shifting.
