Hey guys, just installed a BD Exhaust brake on my 2001, followed all the steps in the instructions, nothing too new since my 96 has a Pacbrake, except for the tapping in to the electronics versus using a micro switch under the accelerator pedal. Well now this is my problem, start truck, BD gear mount switch up position, brake off, push down, brake on, press accelerator, brake stays on. I adjusted the BD electronic box screw as instructed, still does the same thing. Also, is it me or are the instructions very vague in some areas? Like I have a plastic line with a filter on it but it doesn't say in the instructions what to do with it?? I know my Pacbrake Numatics valve has a little filter thing on one port and I'm assuming that's where that line goes, but nothing in the instructions. Any help here will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I personally have had "bad luck" with BDs electronics on more than one customers vehicle... . call their tech department and they will walk u through diagnosis... . when they figure out you have it wired right they will send you a new one... . That hose with filter probably attaches tto the compressor inlet...

Thanks for the advice, I called their tech center and just as you said, we went over all the wiring and hose connections, which I had already done numerous times. So I do the test light check on the DFIV box and it operates correctly, so I adjust the potentiometer as instructed, and now! Press the accelerator and the brake goes on?? let off and the brake goes off?? It's acting as if I had my vacuum lines reversed, which I don't. Guess I'm calling them back tomorrow.

Kalaehina... . hows it in Oahu these days? I m workin my *** off to get my house built on the BigIsland, hilo side... . I dream of moving there and opening a shop... . some day...

There are four hose connections on the spool valve, 2 lines for the exhaust brake,

on the other side for the vacuum and the other is for the line with the filter if these

2 are reversed it will not work right. .

Take twenty seconds and swap the vacuum lines at the solenoid to the brake...
The electronics/switch are triggering the brake, just backwards.

Well guys thanks for all your help, Hector I think I spoke with you the other day, the test light procedure helped, and in the end, yes the vacuum lines were reversed, however, I'll take part blame for that, for not double checking them, as the lines that were backwards were the ones that were already connected out of the box so lesson learned, don't take things for granted. LNaugle, Oahu's getting busier every year, too many cars on the road! So I believe your choice of Big Island is a good one, Hilo is just enough city and a whole lotta of country, nice balance. Just may have to get used to the vog (volcanic fog).

I stayed over there for awhile while iwas looking for land... . got a lil over an acre in Ainaloa subdivision lil before Pahoa... . First time i went in 03 there werent many diesel trucks at all... . mostly ex military chevs... . now it seems like i could get a biz goin as long as we do offroad stuff as we do now. Rains on that side more and is in the trade winds so dont get as much of the fog as Kona.
