I have a problem with my BD exhaust brake. I degreased my engine compartment this past weekend only using a garden hose and simple green. Everything was working fine after cleaning. A couple of days later my exhaust brake stopped working. I am not sure where to start looking for the problem. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Do you still have the small owners manual that came with it? I showed what to cover while washing the truck, and It may show what to clean if it quits working.

If I recall there is a little valve that sit on top of the motor. It had vacuum hose going to the vacuum pump, the brake and a wire coming from the switch. That device is probably where your problem lays.

bd brake quit working

I did same thing to mine very easy to fix problem. The valve that was mentioned above is where your problem is. Take a ball point pen and carefully push in on valve on the front of valve it is stuck. Don't push hard it doesn't take much to free it up. This should correct problem and next time cover this with plastic bag when washing down engine.

Good luck

Denny
