I installed the BD gov spring kit in my truck yesterday and am very happy with the results. The truck now has much more rpm range and also seems to be more torquey in the low and mid range. I also replaced the light spring with the medium spring in the afc kit while I had it off because of excess smoke. I moved the #4 plate back . 050" as well because of excessively high exhaust temps. The truck now only has a puff of brown smoke which quickly goes away and has light grey smoke on heavy acceleration. Highest exhaust temp is about 1350 degrees. Before the changes, I could rent the truck out for fumigating, you could not see anything behind you if you floored it. The exhaust temps were going to 1500+ in a heart beat as well. I have seen a slight decrease in power with the max unloaded boost pressure dropping from 40 psig to 36 psig but the truck is now much better set up for day to day driving. I will be pulling my fifth wheel this weekend and am looking forward to the extended rpm range especially between 3rd and 4th gears. What kind of boost and temperature levels are others getting with this set up?

Dieselburner, Isn't the #4 the wrong plate for your truck. For our 215 motors don't they go #12 230/605, #11 280/680, and #10 300/700. Where would the #4 fall in these?

Did you change all 12 valve springs also?

My engine was originally a 180HP CA engine. Thats what were stuck with here in CA. I wish it had come with the 215, it would have saved me some money and time on the mods.
