Both DD II's and BD II's look the same. I'm looking for flat out recomendations. Which is better or are they the same.

Thanks

Ken

go with the best!

DD II's. Lawrence is an artist @ extrude honing. I put DDII's in mine, and in two of my buddies' trucks..... we all love'm. Go with the best!

DD III's here. They have been doing it the "longest" and have spent countless hours trying this and that, therefore thats who I went with.

Thank you very much for your replies. If anybody cares here is a list of B. O. M. B's I am going to do to my truck. Very soon.

DD II's.

EDGE COMP.

Autometer guages or Westach.

Jardine Exhaust.

Mag-Hytec diff cover.

Another viewpoint

I ran with the BullyDog step 3's in my truck for 6 months, no complaints. I now have the step 5's, again, no complaints. DD has been in the business longer than BullyDog, but I am more than happy with the BD injectors.

I,ve had BDII's in my truck for 18K miles now... smooth idle, god power, good mileage, and cheaper... No complaints... .....

Run with the big dogs....

If i can find a good enough deal at the Texas Rally next week, then I think I will come out with a set of Bully Dog 2 or 3's depending on my testicular fortitude. My reasearch tells me to go with BD, so BD I will.

Anybody got a good deal??? I am a starving college student on a limited budget.

i too, am in a quandry over to go with dd or bullydog. i have a power puck and ps boost module/elbow and 275s on my 98. 5 and tow heavily and dont want egt to go up or mpg to go down. i am greedy for more trq so will swap the 275 injectors out for bigger ones. i have been strugling with the desision to go dd or bully dog. 50 bucks more for dd. i want quality, mpg, low egt, and torque. also since i tow, should i go with stage 2 or 3s. want as much as i can get without any problems with temps while towing. have good egt and mpg with my present setup now. dont want that to change. also, what about smoke?

muddymess... I've got BDII's, EZ, disabled waistgate,880, and DTT's trans goodies... . This thing puts out gobs of torque, smokes before spoolup, but pulls a load up a hill at frightening speed if called upon to do so... ... ... no smoke after spoolup;) and decent mileage for a 7500# truck, and a somewhat leadfooted driver. . :D

For towing purposes I would stick with II's, the III's can get a lil warm. On your "pricing" did you take into account the 20% discount offered by DD to TDR members? (If its still in effect).

Go to smokingdiesel.com or desertdieselparts.com to compare prices between DD II's and BD II's. You will see why I asked the question I did. There is over $100 diff in price.

Why not go straight to the supplier? Last I knew DD offered 20% discount to all TDR members (unsure of when it expires). I would call Diesel Dynamics and inquire about it. Don't forget any associated core charge that might apply.

Well,... I'll say it one more time. Same truck, same day, same dyno, and power output PLUS the opacity meter wins the test. We can compare the cracking pressures too if anyone is getting bored and nodding off.

BTW. What's this week's consensus? Do the "bigger" injectors stress relieve the VP44, or is there no correlation? Not trying to be a smarty pants here, but I've seen it posted both both ways ways. .

kat,

dd offers 20 percent tdr discount. bully dog 10 percent. dd quoted me 480 bucks with tdr discount and after 100 dollars are taken off for trading in stock factory injectors. bully dog quoted at 439 with tdr discount after reducing price 100 bucks for factory stock injectors traded in. actually 41 dollars less for the bully dog. dd is 600 retail not counting discount with an additional 100 mandatory core charge. bully dog is 599 not counting their 1o percent discount with no mandatory core charge. turning in the stock injectors is optional.

i have 1 other question guys. injector tubes. didnt change em with the install of my 275s on my 98. 5 . no problems. changed out 275s for dr p injectors for less than 1 day then put 275s back in. still no problems. bullydog said that changing the tubes isnt nessesary if there is no problems. dd said i should change them to new ones at the price of 90 bucks. they have em in stock. whatcha think.

thanks for all the replys and advice. i sure appreciate your knowledge and expierience.

Well it goes like this...

Kat,

I am leaning towards the BD because of the research on these boards, and the claims of the makers. Now I know the Dr. Performance claims, but I think that DD, and BD are far better at backing up what they say. Yes the DD are greeat, but the have been around longer too, so this gives them a better rep because more people have them. From what I can tell the BD's are just as good, only made by a different company, with different ratings.

Now if I could win these injectors that they are giving away at the Texas TDR rally this weekend, then I'll have DD's, but you know how that goes.

As far as price, that's not an issue, when I will BOMB, it'll be the right parts, not the right price.

One obvious point: the Bully Dog injectors smoke way more than the DD's do. If you add some kind of powerbox to your rig, then you'll be blinding other drivers behind you when you pour on the fuel. Imagine what your trailer is going to look like too.

mike smoke is cool. :D

i have dd2's but plan on upgrading to bd's newest biggest injectors level 5. the reason i'm not staying with dd is, they only have a stage 4 injector and i have to travel to las vegas to have them install them. there 4's are a in house install only. the bd4's are 699 and the dd4's are 1000 they both give 12xhp. when i called dd about bd's new 5's lawerence told me that dd3's out flow bd 5's, yeh okay. i said thankyou and hung up. i was kind of in shock on how lawerence answered my ?. i wanted to hear that he had some new showerheads coming out soon. so my new injectors will be made by bullydog. now my dd2's work great don't get me wrong. they have helped me win the last 2 dyno challenges i've gone to.
