As I understand it, assuming your pump is in "stock" condition, the 185's should develope about 26 RWHP. Pump adjustments will take that up a bit more.
I do not have any first hand knowledge of any other 1st Gen nozzles that BD has. My BD's were the 185's and they ran just fine. Fairly clean too, even with a BIT of pump tweaking, but if you got wild, then they'd smoke too... .
The next size up in injector is the POD or Lucas injector.
They are a large sac type injector which means they hold some fuel in the tip after injection, and can cause a bit of haze at idle... mine do. This is adjustable to some degree with the pump.
They are good for roughly 56 RWHP if I remember right. More is available if you work on the pump as in the first example.
Each injector will cause an increase in your EGT's... . and the more you play with the pump, the more EGT's you'll have.
Right now with the POD's, a 16cm housing, 3 1/2" exhaust and a tight TC/transmission I see a max EGT of about 1200*F in OD, WOT at 2900 RPM, up an 8-9% grade, speed at the top of the grade is about 85 MPH.
These are my "winter settings".
