Does anyone have BD injectors in there pickups? My friend has a set that he is going to sell me really cheap. He said they are the 60 HP injectors and they were in his pickup for about 6 months.

Chris

BD injectors are Bosch 185's or PW injectors. Mine are actually BD injectors and were installed close to 100,000 miles ago. Although they are not my only mod you can see what my numbers are. BTW the 185 stands for 185 HP.

Where are you in Portland? My parent's live in clackamas and i'm gonna be up there in april sometime and i would really like to know if my kdp has been killed, Maybe you could help me out if it hasn't?

Chris

I'm in Southeast Portland. My KDP jig is at Harold Bowers being modified but should be back by then. I would be happy to put it to rest. I may go over to Meridian ID for a dyno run on 4/12. Let me know when you'll be up here - I would like to meet you.

It would be the last weekend in April if i do come up there. I'll be up there allot this summer moving stuff home. I'm in the air force and i received an assignment to korea and i have to be there in august. Maybe i should ask anyone if they need anything moved from vegas huh??

As I understand it, assuming your pump is in "stock" condition, the 185's should develope about 26 RWHP. Pump adjustments will take that up a bit more.

I do not have any first hand knowledge of any other 1st Gen nozzles that BD has. My BD's were the 185's and they ran just fine. Fairly clean too, even with a BIT of pump tweaking, but if you got wild, then they'd smoke too... .

The next size up in injector is the POD or Lucas injector.

They are a large sac type injector which means they hold some fuel in the tip after injection, and can cause a bit of haze at idle... mine do. This is adjustable to some degree with the pump.

They are good for roughly 56 RWHP if I remember right. More is available if you work on the pump as in the first example.

Each injector will cause an increase in your EGT's... . and the more you play with the pump, the more EGT's you'll have.

Right now with the POD's, a 16cm housing, 3 1/2" exhaust and a tight TC/transmission I see a max EGT of about 1200*F in OD, WOT at 2900 RPM, up an 8-9% grade, speed at the top of the grade is about 85 MPH.

These are my "winter settings".

I promised myself to stay off the forum. So much for promises.

You aren't getting what you asked,so I'll try to help.

If you go to bd-power,click on high flow injectors, buy now, start

shopping. You will find 60 HP injectors for your truck.

part # 1040171, $ 549. they are referred to as ,xxx injectors.

As far as their performance,I have no idea.

I ordered my injectors from ADT. I was very happy with them. In cold weather I could see a haze at idle. They are supposed to be good for 60 HP conservatively with minor pump tweaking. I was happy with price as well as increase in power.

John

Thanks allot for all the info everyone. I bought the injectors but now i need to find some some new washers and o-rings for them, but i should be able to get those at any diesel shop around here in Las Vegas.

Chris

There is a lot of talk about changing injectors . I dont if I need to. I have a 93 dually auto and a 90 3/4 5 speed . Both have load stop screw turned in probly 3 turns almost to where the governer wants to make the engine take off by itself. I get 35 psi on the 5 speed and 28 on the auto. So if i add 60 hp inj. will i get more. I can take off in the 5 peed in third gear and set the tires on fire. Pull tractors up hill in overdrive. The counter shaft bearing doesn't like that much. Does any body know (ball park) how much hp. the 5. 9 has at 35 psi.
