Just wanted to give a warning to anyone thinking of buying some stronger intercooler boots, about 2 months ago i keep blowing off my stock ones so i upgraded to the BD boots and clamps. Once installed everything seemed fine for a bit, then i started to hear a loud ringing/ humming/whistle noise, kind of like the sound you hear when your ears start to ring. The noise was most prodominant at higher boost situations and would slowly dissapate when the boost was low. Well after having my local diesel performance place pressure test the intake/intercooler to 40-45psi, what they revealed was that the boots were fine but the clamps that they supplied with the boots would not hold the preesure. They stared to leak at 15psi. The clamps were torqued to spec but would leak/whistle alot,we retorqued even more to the point that they were about as tight as they could be---still leaking, all eight clamps at about 20 psi. Finally the mechanic decided to try a stock clamp to see if it would hold--yes up to 45 psi before we released the pressure,no leaks where the stock one was used,go figure. The name of the clamps supplied by BD were stamped RG RAY. The BD boots were fine and of good quality, they did not expand under the higher pressures ,but the clamps did not work at all. Any other member have this problem, right now i think i'll run with the stock clamps and BD boots until i can fined some better clamps. Stocker seem to do the job ---for now.
