4x4 Jamboree in Lima

Directions to TX. Meeting

evidently BD was not allowed to cross the border so it looks like they'll be a no show at Vegas..... maybe Brian can elaborate if this is true... ..... something about the whole truth not being disclosed, so the border agents sent 'em home and told 'em not to return until the 21st---so the new TC will not get tested ----chris

I would bet that there were a few more reasons for the no show...

The saga continues...

I bet Piers made it #ad

Joe went to a lot of trouble to make the arrangements and allow all parties send transmisssion technicians to present and discuss their views.

I guess the border guards that got the bd guys also got Dunrite and Suncoast too!(lol)

I sucked, i ended up looking like a bully taking on poor old Vic,who has no transmission experience or knowledge but who i like by the way.

I think all things considered the technical portion went well, the absence of the other vendors spoke volumes as to their consideration of Joes efforts.

We did what we could under the circumstances and very much appreciated meeting those who attended.

Special thanks to Lazer Bob, and to Lawrence and the staff of Diesel Dynamics
for letting us use their shop.

I'll be honest with you guys, i drove the ultimate Dodge pickup truck, Lawrence has the best set up pick up truck i have ever driven. I have driven hundreds of them, all i can say is WOW!

TDCanuk--looks like my reponse was deleted by the board shut down -so here it goes---apples to apples--let's talk just trannies here(if I can)--BD was promoting a new t/c against other companies t/c's, but your truck setup as outlined in your above post shows lockup devices so how can you compare your t/c to the other companies--if you wanted to promote the lockup devices-then ok-but that doesn't look like what happened--so the question is what does your t/c do that the other companies can't?? I know BD is big on the lockup devices, but if you want to promote something promote it on it's own merit, not with other devices to make it work, but if you're promoting the new t/c as being the cure for trannies disintergrating that use the lock up devices then say that. We consumers want something better and if your combo does that, then that's great, but that's not what I got from the posts about your new t/c... I just want the truth... and yes it was a diesel perforamnce rally and I understand you guys are in it to make money, but what needed to be done was you guys needed a couple of trucks-one setup with just the t/c and maybe that's what was planned, but those boys didn't get to come and play, and one with the lock up devices to show the benefits of those too... I don't think I can explain in any better---apples to apples and then show me how you made the apple better and then show me how you can make it even better than that with other devices..... I just don't understand how someone can beat their chest about something and then show off something totally different is all-maybe it's just me---chris

TDCanuk--if the truck to truck test can be arranged that would be awesome---thanks for replying & understanding what I was saying--sometimes words over the internut can not depict what's really intended... good luck and I sure hope a test can be worked out as it benefits everyone-except the loser has to go back to the drawing board, but even then we should get a better product in the end--which is in no doubt what everyone wants----chris

I have one in my truck. It works well. WAY WAY better than the old version BD tc.

I had posted this earlier but it got ate during the server glitch so if it seems like a rerun forgive me.
What I said before was that really what it all boils down to is two different approaches to curing our transmission ills. I say transmission ills, since everyone's approach is valve body/torque converter I think it's safe to say the transmission itself is actually quite sound and that the torque converter is pretty much the culprit. Now it seems the first approach to improve torque converter performance in getting the power to the ground is via the lock up clutch. This seems to be the approach taken by virtually everyone in the industry except for Bill K. . The second approach is to improve the torque converter performance via the fluid coupling. Now, as I pointed out on my lost post, everyone has to make the best decision for them based on the information they have. I myself went with Bill K. 's set up at May madness. My reasons were that first, it seems to me that, as long as you watch your temps, it doesn't matter how hard you beat on that fluid couping you aren't going to hurt anything because, well, it's FLUID. The other thing is, it seems that all the manufacturers (GM, Ford, Dodge) didn't have any problem with their auto's until they started puting lock up clutches in them. The old 727's were virtually indestructable. Why? I believe it's because of no lock up clutch. So much so, that when I get my set up installed, I plan to hook up a mystery UNLOCK switch to disengage the lock up clutch completely for short spells when I'm throwing the power to her, especially when pulling. Now, like I said, everyone has to make the best decision for them and if I'm wrong on any of my points, I won't get my feelings hurt if someone points it out.

Wife's truck:
95 2500 SLT Laramie 3. 54 automatic JVC cd out of factory infinity system, southwest grill gaurd (a favorite amongst the deer population), K&N chunked, AFC adjusted, "gutless" cat, Geno's dual EGT/boost gauge, TST #6 plate slid all the way forward, AFC housing slid all the way forward, silencer ring removed

My truck:
95 2500 SLT Laramie 4x4 automatic, Geno's dual EGT/Boost gauge, Dodge cat test pipe (I'm still testing hehe), Geno's muffler eliminator pipe, AFC star wheel adjusted for smoke show, TST #6 plate slid all the way forward, AFC Housing slid all the way forwad. On order, DTT valve body and torque converter, I decided to finally upgrade my poor auto transmission after over 100,000 miles of trouble free service.
