 Well, after several months of dealing with BD regarding the problem I had with their "Short Shift" kit for my '01 Ram, I finally talked to them today, read the previous saga here . I contacted them immediately after the problem was noted, which was upon install. I was referred to several people in the company, all promising to "find out what the problem was. " After each person, (I had to call each person several times as NO CALLS WERE EVER RETURNED, :( each call led no where.

Now this is over a four month period, so not being patient was not an issue. I sent them the link to the post above, that includes several other members problems with the item, and a like to the "Diesel Resource" web sight, supplied by HeberRam, that listed several more consumers with problems. With all that evidence, what was the response???? ZIP, ZILCH, NOTHING!!!

The bottom line is I'm out nearly $600 bucks after having the transmission removed and a new shift tower installed to correct the problem.

Now I am sure that that MOST of their products work as intended, and maybe even most Short Shift kits. But there is sufficient proof that there is a problem in some applications, and their response was to put their head in the sand, and pretend that those that had problems were not enough to worry about.

Moral of this story?? If you choose to purchase this product, let the buyer beware. It is an expensive lesson to learn, and the manufacturer WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT.

It is important to note here that I bought the product from Geno's, who treated me fantastically, and refunded the purchase price without question.

I am sorry to have to present this matter in such a negative light, but everything presented here is fact. I am off now to reproduce this post on as many other boards as I can find. Sarge

BD Power (less)

One thing to keep in mind when using the short shift kit, you give up leverage to get a shorter throw. This will make shifting harder. I doubt that was your problem (I read the thread).

I'm sure this will affect my decision regarding whose exhaust brake I purchase. It's sad when a vendor can't even attempt to stand behind their product.

Sarge,

Thanks for the up-date. But sorry to hear of your dilemma with BD. The information has shortened my decision making process.

Good luck with BD

Yeah, it's really too bad. I tried working with several people I talked to, but all I ever got was "we will get back to you, after... . " Yeah, right. Save your money and get some really cool Bombs that work;) Sarge

BD Is awesome and every experience I've had has been great. Give Loren a call, he did my dealings, and he called me or e-mailed me back with in a day every time i contacted them!
