I am thinking about purchasing a BD pressureLoc kit to help with keeping my auto in one piece. The only mod I have is an EZ but from all I have read..... it is just a matter of time before my lock up clutch is toast due to lower line pressures. I can already feel some shuddering at very low speeds in lockup so I keep it out of OD until 55 mph. I dont have the $$$$ for a VB / TC upgrade. :{ I read up on the PressureLoc and wanted to know what the opinion is on this product?? It is designed for stock or mildly modified engines. I also plan on installing a Mag Hytec DD pan to help with keeping temps down. I appreciate any advice.

Pressure lok is a good thing ... I used one on mine . . but now have an ATS trans setup and don't need it . . I still have the pressure loc ... PM me ... maybe we can make a deal and save you some $$

The Usual Suspects...!!

It may be prudent to note that there are always alternatives and for each and every solution/option/gizmo, there's always an option/alternative/gizmo.

Depending upon your relevant product selection criteria, you have to ask your potential supplier a killer of an open, leading question..... who they consider to be their major competitor and why... ... if it's Kaiser Sohzay make sure you keep your head down ;)

If it's BD, congratulate them on their success of their reality bypass ;) ;) seriously though, just think about after-sales service & support, impartial advice, a frank and honest approach to business and of course, TCB itself. (cheers Elvis!);

BTW I'm not affiliated to any company - my own criteria for the mods you're considering also included BD product inventory and support, not only in their own backyard, but more than 3,500 miles from my nearest DTT approved installer and 25k trouble free miles since shipping back to Europe speaks volumes for the product and the after-sales support, (Take a bow Bill, Shantee, Stephan, Vinny, et. al. )

Just do your research thoroughly, check my sigfile below for the hot-links and then when the other TDR members have responded, make an informed decision... ... ...

okay, flame me... !!!!!

BD Pressure Loc

I have a BD Pressure Loc installed on my truck. I feel it helped prolong the life of a somewhat worn out transmission. The transmission seemed to work better, better shifts, and it helped with the shudder. I installed it to nurse a few more miles out of my stock original transmission. It was installed at 87000 miles and I had an entire of a BD transmission installed at 107000 miles. Do some research. It’s a small investment that I feel helped my stock transmission. Hope this helps. PM me if you want more information. Jeff.

Challenger II, I read you post carefully. I believe you asked about BD’s Pressure Loc. Since the DTT guys seem to be afraid of BD for some reason. I guess they feel the need to respond to all BD questions. They might even have some experience with BD products.

I feel we now need a new Forum called DTT THE BEST TRANSMISSION BUILT. The DTT owners can make all the snide comments they want and tell each other how great their transmissions are. When you buy a DTT transmission you will get a DTT decoder ring and a secret password so only DTT owners can post. Just a thought.

:D :D :D

I had a BD Pressure Loc on my stock transmission. It will help keep your transmission pressures up when you have a load and are not using full throttle. I don't have it any more but while I had it I felt it was a worthwhile modification. The nice thing about it is it's all external so nothing gets opened up during the installation. If I remember right, it was one of Bill K's inventions while he worked for BD.

Sage advice

Since ol ron owns neither the DTT or BD, he feels you should be adsvised of a VERY good article in the new TDR magazine which arrived yesterday. Since your'e already experiencing shudder, your transmission may be damaged enough to require rebuild. 47RE's don't fail by themselves, they fail from ingesting chunks of torque convertors.

Now, let's cover choices. The same TDR article made some strong arguments for a third player, ATS.

I'm more confused than ever, since I was leaning toward the DTT, but the convertor ATS uses sounds more capable and claims 100% efficiency in lockup.

My advice; read the article and try to get some feedback on the ATS system. Lord knows the DTT has a bunch of satisfied users, and their service is apparently superb. Makes buying tough, doesn't it?!!

Re: Para 2. Surely you jest was my initial thinking then I re-read your last paragraph suggesting a "DTT special", you know, decoder rings or something like that. Now that's an idea I think a whole lot of people would endorse. especially me.

Good for you.

Challenger II... ATS, DTT & Goerend & BD all make good upgrades. Obviously I feel ATS has the best people and the best technology:) , but all 4 are good.

Call Don Ramer at ATS. Call Bill K. Call Goerend. I did. Then make your decision. Don Ramer's # is 800-949-6002.

money money money

do something soon or it gets expensive fast. I didnt have the funds when mine started to fail and this is what i did to prolong it a few miles. I replaced the vb with a bd. My transmission man says i couldve accomplished the same thing with a 17 dollar aftermarket vb upgrade(his opinion). I then using my backwoods bumpkin brain stuck a large magnet on my transmission that i had in my toolbox for years collecting any screws floating around. this worked long enough for me to save for a tc that is probably junk(x stator). Now this setup worked until my od planets grenaded in about 4 ft of mud. I had the vb and tc rebuilt locally and went to the junkyard for a used 47rh, still to poor to afford a dtt especially without a core. This system has worked for another 20 k but as I pile on the upgrades the transmission gets more and more shaky(propane in the mail). Suffice it to say a vb will probably get you bye for a little while. I personally was told that the pressure loc would only limp me down the road another 5k or so. i think a vb and a pressure loc would definitely save you for quite awhile. Then you could save up for the whole enchilada. good luck
