Edge coming out with a Turbo??

Rip and Don EDM's----Wow!

I just installed a BD short shifter & E. knob from Geno's. I thought my 6 speed was a pretty sweet shifter before & this kit has made it even better. The E. knob is a very nice unit too. Neat appearance & good feel. They are not exactly cheap but the quality of the parts justifies some of that price.

E Knob Wiring Question

I'm doing the same modifications and I have a question. I got the E knob and intend to purchase the Jacobs exhaust brake. The E knob has two wires coming off it but the wiring diagram on the Jacobs web site shows three wires going to their switch. With your exhaust brake did you have to deal with two wires or three going to the switch? If three, how did you handle them with the E knob.

Thanks

There are three on the Banks Brake also. Black is ground. Red is power & yellow is for the light in the switch. I left my original switch under the steering column & wired the E knob in series with it.

On Jacobs E Brake there is yellow, green and red. Which two wires connect to the E knob? Red + runs to the no. 20 connector on the ECM. It turns to Black at the dash mounted switch. Green is Ground. Is it red and yellow? Red and Green ?

This is the same situation I had several years ago when I installed my Jacobs. The instructions that they supplied were great until it came to hooking up the square toggle switch supplied with the brake. I t was like some nerd from the engineering office that never worked on a vehicle wrote the instructions for that switch. I made a big mistake a cut the required square hold in the dash. As you can tell I am still ******!

Okay, I have not yet installed my Jacob's brake for my 3rd gen Cummins and Eknob but I've studied the wiring circuits and here's the wiring explanation. This explanation applies to the Jacobs for the 2003 Cummins, I'm not sure of the wiring and wire colors on other model Jacobs.

The stock Jacobs switch has three wires going to it. The red wire goes to the relay that turns on the brake. The green wire goes to ground. The yellow wire goes to power (cavity #39 on ECM Connector 2).

When you turn on the stock Jacobs switch you are connecting the red to ground which turns on the brake. In addition you are connecting the yellow wire to ground which turns on the light in the stock Jacobs switch.

The Eknob does not have a light in it. Therefore, when you install the Eknob which has only two wires, you use only the green wire and the red wire from the Jacobs wiring harness. You do not use the yellow wire.

So, my question for anyone who is using the Eknob, have you also wired in a separate light for an indicator to show when the switch is on?
