Silencer Ring Removal Questions

Has anyone tried this? Does it really work? Does it work with other modifications?And will it work with a aftermarket transmission?

I don't know anything about it, but I'm going to reply anyway. :) I haven't tried it, It most likely works as advertised, it's almost sure to be 100% compatible with other "standard" mods, and I don't see any reason it would fail to function with an aftermarket transmission. That said, if you're running 4. 10 gears, you're most likely darn near redline when it hits the governer anyhow. If you get one, let us know how it works out.

Guess I've never seen it, but at what speed does it shut down? I've got 3. 73 and I've been up to 110 and I was at the redline?

I have the EZ stacked with the TST... I hit the governor this week racing a vette from 60-115. at 115 I felt the truck buck and hit the governor wall... EGT's and fueling were fine... . damn governor. I want to wrap my tach out to 4k.

It's also known as the BD RAD (racer anti de-fueler). BD says, "that when 1/4 mile racing the cummins computer limits the amount of torque put out by the engine. This torque management results in a reduction of power that can be felt as a quick momentary decrease of power throughout first and second gear. This drastically hurts your 1/4 mile time and as well seriously jeopardizes your engines drivetrain. " I guess this anti de-fueler is suppose to over ride the computer torque management in 1st and 2nd gears. I don't know if it eliminates the governor. Thats why I want info from other guys who are using the product. I'm sick of getting beat off the line by 6. 0 strokers. I don't catch my buddies strokers til 3rd gear. I have 4. 10 gears, but with my bigger tires my speedometer is 5mph off, so at redline I'm doing 113mph vs the stock 108.

BD also sells another product called the Ram Speed Eliminator. They say you can go 130mph+ with the right gearing I'm sure. I've been on their site a lot tonight.

With 3. 73 my truck radars @105 mph. Without the speed limiter I radar @114 mph. Depending on the year of your truck you can cut the wire and hook it to a toggle switch but when the wire is cut it disables you speeometer and odometer so if the dealer sees this they may have some questions. This wire is the same one BD splices to hook up their box ,the only difference is they keep the speedometer showing the governed speed but actualy lets the truck go faster you just can't see how much faster ,at least this is what i was told when the first came out. This might have changed by know. Another trick is you can roll the key back a little bit and when your speedo drops to zero you have no limiter. Be very careful not to shut the truck off as it could be painful.

Just give your key about a half of a click back from the RUN position. It works but you do lose your instrumentation and your alternator charging so you cant tell your speed nor run it to long or it will set a CEL, its far from perfect but its free and it works.

The torque management is on 2003 with the 47re the 48re does not use it

Hey I have that on my truck as well yes it does work I'm not sure how fast I have gone but I would imagine around 130mph plus, easily get to 120mph and peg it while rpm's still rise. My truck is a 2001 with most of the BD products installed.

Just want to be sure you guys know before you play too hard that the OEM tires on our trucks are only speed rated to 106 MPH. Lots of the aftermarket tires are only rated to 99 mph.

Speed ratings are as follows:

P = 93 mph

Q = 99 mph

R = 106 mph

S = 112 mph

Those ratings cover pretty much all the tires available for our trucks.

Your not gonna blow a lower speed rated tire for short spurts.

These tires are rated for constant speed. Not just 5 or 10 seconds.

As stated above, the "RAD" is for the 47re equipped trucks. If you have a 48re transmission, then go with the Ram Speed Eliminator. My truck will have significant defueling throughout first gear when I boost launch or hammer down from a standstill with the TST on a high setting. You can definitely feel the surging from the confusion of the computer as you accelerate through first gear. I am going to install one, but billet shafts need to go in first.

Lonestar, I'm 99% sure the 48re has torque management just like the 47re.

I have a 48re and the RAD. I can say without a doubt my 48re defueled before the rad was installed, it made a huge difference.

Before I installed the rad I thought my truck was having a fuel delivery problem but it was just the computer defueling.

Okay, that is good to know. I suppose I have been wrong once before :D

That is good to know that it made a big difference for you. I guess I'm going to have to order one soon.

Is there anything like this on a 6spd?[/QUOTE]

The Speed Eliminator does not remove the RPM limiter and as far as I know

the 6 Spd does not use the torque management no need to but it will remove the speed limiter

In a discussion about the Mad ECM I was told that my 2nd gen 6-speed ECM DID have some torque management coding. Not sure yet if this was only above 2700RPM, but there is some management 'Big Brother' watching the output. The noticeable lag in lower gears during acceleration is the other outcome (besides defueling after 2700rpm, as far as I can tell!)
