Well, last weekend I had my first chance to give the 4wd a workout since having the BD stuff in the trans.
I will admit I had some concerns about how the transmission would work off-road. All gone now.
Conditions here are extremely dry with lots of deep sand. I've seen half tons with 265's come to a dead stop at WOT, low range, so took the dually with some trepidation.
Before, with the stock TC, I had to hit almost 2000 on the tach to turn the tires when pulling hard. You get some funny looks when you're turning 2 grand making 2mph. Now, at 1500 the tires are turning, no matter what. Much more pleasant to drive, it's more responsive (of course the injectors have something to do with that too).
Shifts in both high and low range under load are firm but smooth.
I figure this was a pretty good torture test- at one stretch I had 15 lbs of boost going at 5mph! The Ford behind me went around that spot.
