I am looking into the turbo guard by BD. Has anyone experienced this product?? I have seen it installed on the intake horn. How well would this work for an automatic??

After doing some research, it seems like this product is a PITA, and many people have removed it because of malfunction.

My understanding is its not for the daily driver but more for the all out racer. Also, it will only work when the throttle is completely dumped, like after a sled pull or drag race.

 Way to go on the Searching here cory!!! Its nice to see someone do their own research and stop cluttering up the pages here. Its not so much a problem ere as it is over on that other dodge cummins forum  Go check over there as well for even more info about it.

I have a buddy that took it off and threw it in a box in his garage. They do what their soppose to its just has no real benifit and will hurt your performance since you will loose ALL of your boost between shifts on a manual and they are a major PITA to get near right.

Goodluck.

I have the BD BOV installed and it works great for me and my configuration. I have a daily driver and sometimes weekend racer. Michael at HotRodDiesels.com installed mine. The install does look like a major PITA for sure, that why I would not have even thought about doing it myself. Proper installation and calibartion of the settings seems to be what is needed to make it work correctly.

Before the BOV my II SPS66 barked all the time just daily driving. Entering freeways, beating the mustang to the turn lane, etc. Now I have no barking on the street, just the ocassional pssst, pssst, pssst. Much better on the nerves and the turbo. It is an expensive solution for sure, but I am happy I did it. Just my . 02.

i do plan on putting together a bov setup on my truck someday [when the barking becomes harder to control], but it will be home made with simple controls [clutch & 0 throttle]. instead of the tial valve bd uses, i will probably end up with a greddy or turbosmart valve

Ohh I cant wait for YOU to engineer a better BOV for our diesels. .

Oh and I bet the BD Turbo guard would hurt your ET if you had a manual.
