I was looking at the BD steering brace. I can get it for at least $40 cheaper than the DSS. Anyone familiar with both? I had the DSS on my 96'. Now looking for my 06' Mega.
I just put the BD version on my truck. It went on easily and works as advertised. Good build quality and hardware used. The only downside for me is its silver/black finish, since that sticks out a bit without an airdam. Got it from Geno's.
I would call BD and ask them where it is made! They are famous for copying things. Example, my son bought an exhaust manifold from them ( he actually wanted an ATS ) they sent their POS poor quality Chinese junk manifold. My son sent it back and got an ATS. I have a DSS and it is a quality product! Check peakdieselperformance.com
My only complaint w/ the Genos BD brace was that the silver vane powder coat started to chip off allmost instantly.
My outfit doesnt see dirt or chipped roads. its almost like the surface wasnt prepared correctly. It does do whats it says, tighten-up the whole front steering. Worth the money in my book.
I've had a DSS on my truck for 5+ years. Install was simple and exactly as per the included directions. I've put about 80kmiles on with it and may of those were gravel roads. All the paint is in tact and I see no chips, peels or rust spots.
I have a Sold Steel DSS brace also and have had it on for a couple of years now. It has done all I wanted it to do and the finish has held up to PA's nasty chemical salt. A simple wipedown when its show time and it still looks as good as the day EEP installed it. Good quality product with a good finish... ... Andy
You might take a look at the Defiant Truck Products brace. I just installed one and it works as advertised. I especially liked how it is made of one single piece of steel. No welds to go bad.
The service provided by Paul is second to none too!
I am just a satisifed consumer, I have no ties to the business blah blah blah... .
I have had BD on mine for over 2 years. Has worked fine, easy to install. As a company I don't think you can beat BD. Stand behind their products and always willing to help.
