I have BD X-monitor on my '03 HO/48RE. I have had the truck at the dealer twice for alleged transmission overheating. I have had the warranty work done on the transmission cooler return line. The techs. say my gauge running about 30 degrees hotter than the tempurature reading they get on the transmission when the hook it up to their diagnostic equipment. Anyone else had this issue with their X monitor? Thanks.

mine reads well try letting the truck sit over nite and the initial start up temp sould read close to the ambiant temp.

It reads fine at start up, but I have seen some crazy high numbers when "warmed up" to operating temp. and the techs say it is about 30 degrees hotter than true??

Call BD

Lawdog... . Id recommend calling BD about your problem. I bought an 03 X-monitor for my very early 04 and they did a reflash for me for free to adjust for the 20-30 degree low trans temp readings (maybe you got an 04?). If you are having problems they might want it back for R&D and might replace it. Never know until you ask.

Just my 2. 5 cents worth.

Regards,

Joe

I called BD, they said to send back the display and the module... for the second time I might add. Apparently 1 in 1000 2003 trucks have a different sensor in the transmission and it requires a different computer program version to read the temp correctly. Just my luck. Good thing is the guys at BD knew about the problem and agreed to pick up the return shipping. Oh well, it will be nice to have it fixed...

This afternoon when I left work, the temp and pyro and overhead console temp all read 97 degrees. I guess mine seems to work ok. I will watch it though.

My First Post Here on TDR... I admit to Lurking :)

Just had an X-Monitor installed on my 03 California Truck w/ 47re. Transmission temp reading was ALARMING. Truck was supposed to go in for factory recall service, so I waited and asked the dealer to compare the X-Monitir reading to their diag. equip. My X-monitor is reading 25 Degrees high.

Called BD to talk about issue and they gave me a couple of options...

1. Go into X-Monitor's menu and change to different program #

or

2. Send Display and Module to BD for reflashing.

Doesn't seem like an either/or situation to me... I think I'll try the program code thing first and see what happens (they are suggesting going from an 03 code to an 04 code). If that doesn't do it, unit goes to them for the reflash.

They didn't give me the same explanation as Lawdog got. . but they were extremely cool to deal with.

Ken Imler Diesel in Sacramento did the install, so I'm sure he'll help me out with the rest. He's a wonderful guy.

I just can't drive around with a trans temp guage reading 220-230 and not be driven crazy!! Gadgets must work!!
