I am ready to buy gauges for my truck. Those of you that have the BD X-monitor gauges, would you recommend them? Are they accurate and reliable?

I've got the X-Monitor in my 03. The install was easy... . a few cold ones and 2 hrs. of my time. So far... . so good. Being able to save the higest readings is a nice feature. As far as being accurate? I hope so. The only real way to tell would be to have someone hold an i-r heatreadingthingy gun to the exhaust manifold while you put the engine under a load. Ahhh... . its accurate enough for me. Got mine from Geno's.

Mine has been disappointing; The display suffers from "washout" as the makers describe it. In bright sunlight it can only be read with difficulty. Night is great with four selectable levels of illumination.

Measured after everything has cooled down and stabilized at idle for 5 min. the skin temp of the manifold shows 295F with infrared while the X-monitor shows 185F at the thermocouple. They say it will have to be reprogrammed.

Comes only in Farenheit/psi

I have had mine for almost a year and like it. "Washout" is a minor problem in bright sun but you hand quickly shields it enough to see display. I think a small shield, like they make for laptop computers velcroed on and stucking out about 1-2 inch would solve the problem. It has not been enough of a problem for me to bother making one.

Every once in a while it reads zero's when it starts up, think this is a poor ground. Next start all is fine.
