gonna be released tomorrow. bunch of em have been tested w/ good results on many different trucks. a friend of mine has been testing the 1st prototype for an 05 on his rig and is tickled with it. no probs at all and he is very impressed with the power results with low egt and the mpg increase too.

the 05 dl'er will also have the 04. 5 programing in it btw. the 03/04 dl'er will also have 04. 5 files installed.

another friend who is a hotshoter and tows rv's for a living got a pup for his 04 a few weeks ago is impressed with the power,,,of course :) ,,,,,,,,,,but also amazed at the mpg increase. on identical runs with an identical 5'er in tow,,,,,,,,,,,stock 12. 0 mpg,,,,,,,,,,,tow setting 13. 8 [hand figured] while running a slightly faster speed. he also tows in performance but didnt have a chance to measure mpg on identical run with identical 5'er yet but finds a good increase in mpg on perf mode too. he says egt is reasoanable on his otherwise stock rig towing on performance, he just back out a tiny bit sometimes as he doesnt like to let it get over 1200. he always run 'insane' when dead headin and absolutely loves it :D . has an mpg increase on insane too.

also,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, bdog got the outlook monitor worked out now so the highboost reading recall is correct. if ya got one of em that doesnt read correctly on hi boost recall let em know and they will take care of ya

Is there any way that the dealer can tell if someone has used the Bully Dog down loaders? A little exrta power towing my horse trailer would be helpfull.

No, they can't tell if you have reflashed.

Also for anyone interested.

We have extended the group buy on the Power Pup and the Outlook.

The original group buy garnered so much interest that we have decided to do it again.

Pup-435 shipped

Outlook-350 shipped

Package with Pup and Outlook-715 shipped an extra 65 dollar decrease.

later,

Does he have the high idle feature enabled? Did it still work after applying the power program? What about the skim key feature? I'm hoping these issues have been fixed, or perhaps were reported in the beginning because of user error, but I'd like to verify that we're not going to need a trip to the dealer to re-enable any special features each time the program is changed.

the skim key feature is still enabled. the gray key with the chip is only key that will start the rig. mark does not have the fast idle enabled on his 05. [he has nv5600] if ya got an 04/04. 5 48re ya can enable the fast idle feature by clicking the correct button on the dl'er btw. for the nv5600 rigs they dont have the fast idle files in the ecm so that aint possible without having the dl'er plugged in and using the pto mode,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, at this time.

also,,,,,,,,,,,,,ive heard that the ecm on the 05 48re's do NOT have the fast idle files in them as do the 04/04. 5s. why would dc do such a thing. makes no sense. but then again maybe i heard wrong. does anyone have an 05 with the fast idle enabled from dc?

Yes, mine. Well, I had to have it turned on, but yes it was available and I don't want to lose it. That's good news about the skim key working and the high idle option being configurable in the downloader. I wish I could play with one for a day and see if I really want it... is there any kind of return policy on the group purchase units? I guess it wouldn't be hard to resell if I decided against it anyways... hmmmm

How do you have so much information on the downloader, do you sell these or work for Bully Dog?, I see you have an 866 number at the end of your first post.

Muddy Mess?

Hi, Muddy! I have an '03, HO, 6-sp. , 3500, with an AFE ProGuard-7 air intake system, a Magnaflow 4" exhaust and a BD Ex-Monitor pyro & boost guage. I've been thinking about the Power Pup for awhile, now. Was told to wait til the end of Nov. that they would have an upgraded Pup that took care of the "flat spot" around 2000-2100 rpm's. I called Mark at Bully Dog, yesterday, and He said the new version was out, now. I know He was busy but, I got the feeling He didn't know what I was talking about. Have You heard any info? Also, do I need to be concerned about the turbo in the performance and extreme modes. I would hate to throw-out the X-monitor, which was kind of pricy, in favor of the Bully Dog Monitor. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks. Joe F. (Buffalo).

i shouldve stated that the 866 no. is for bdog if anyone needed to contact em to change a monitor

nah,,,,,,,,,,i dont work for bdog. i am just on old fart who is tickled with how my rig performs using the pup. Oo. several at bdog are friends and supporters of our local TDR group and i of course have conversations with.

btw,,,,,,,,,,,a few have complained of a flatspot near 2000 rpm. bdog has got that remedied and is doing reflashes. only one local here, ed the hotshot guy,[04 with over 160,000 miles :) ] has complained of this and only on 'insane' mode. he has arranged to get the reflash on his pup next week

Fast Idle

My 2005 auto has the fast idle option. This morning it was 1 degree outside. Started the truck and it ran normally. While spraying down the windows with de-icer, the RPM started to rise to a fast idle... pretty cool!!

If you decide to get in on the group purchase you better hope you don't have any problems. I sent mine back the day after I received it because it didn't work (there is apparently a problem with a certain vin lot of 04's I didn't see any power gains and it wiped out my high idle feature) and cyclone diesel charged me a 48. 00 restocking and freight fee  . Funny thing is they didn't restock it they resold it as new right after they got it back  . Their web site says the restocking fee applies after thirty days. besides that no body should have to pay a restocking fee on defective merchandise period When I called them about this their attitude was if I don't like it thats to bad. the power pup also disabled my high idle feature. I took the truck to the dealer to have it reenabled and they couldn't figure it out the DRB showed that it was enabled but it does not work it also showed some unusual codes. bullydog is suposed to load a programer that I can burn to my ecm and restore my high idle but I have to pay shipping both ways on that too. Im still waiting on that but not holding me breath. Hows that for customer service? At this point I am out 48. 00 restocking and freight fee, 11. 00 to return the power pup and monitor, 95. 00 for attempted reflash, = 154. 00 and I still don't have my high idle feature though I think that is due to the tech not knowing how to use his tools. As for me Im going to wait for the juice with attitude yea yea I know they have been promising this forever but at least their taking the time to test these and work the bugs out before they put them on the market unlike bullydog. If anyone wants to question my honesty on any thing here I have documented everything reciepts, bank statement, phone conversations everything just ask.

KCLaber don't be missled if the dealer looks they will know. If you want to maintain your warranty don't use the powerpup!

dang joe,,,,,,,,,i missed u post. sorry bout that. we were postin at same time and i went back and only saw my post. bert was just before when i posted. yes,,,,,,,i am slow w/ this postin stuff

they do have the upgrade to eliminate flat spot now. all new units are upgraded and all earlier units can be upgraded. they had it all worked out early last week

i wouldnt worry at all bout the stock turbo in performance mode. i havent heard anyone having stock turbo problems in extreme either, unlike the tst or juice [beta testers].

ya dont have to throw out the x, joe,,,but i would much prefer to have the outlook, and will soon get one. i betcha the x ya cld sell easy enuff

sorry again for the psting delay

red360,,,,,,,,all the 3rdgens have this fast idle feature [1000 rpm]but the ability to enable an ADJUSTABLE [up to 1500] fst idle by using cruise cntrl buttons is avail on 04/04. 5 trucks with 48re enableable thru dlr or with the bdog dl'er

ibnast, sorry to hear cyclone diesel didnt treat ya right. bdog themselves take care of their customers properly,no chrge to correct a faulty program. a friend is shipping back his dl'er for an early 04 to get reflashed w/ new program and will only have to pay for shipping to get it there. no charge for a reflash

guess i got some wrong info pertaining to the [adjustable]fast idle on the 05s. dc does have it in the ecm on the 05 and it can be enabled by the dlr or with the bdog powerpup. found out the powerpups made after early november has the fast idle in addition to the pto idle feature. this is now automatic in which the fast idle is enabled [04/04. 5/05 48re's] at the end of the download process

Hey muddy,

I did the same thing as your friend. Sent the BDDL back to Bullydog for the high idle and reflash. Only had to pay to get it shipped there. Can't wait to get it back, it got there yesterday.

Ibnast,

Sorry to hear about your experience w/Cyclone, they treated me great when I ordered my DL. My truck is an early '04 like yours and I was a little disappointed like you when I plugged it in, it didn't feel like I gained much power.

muddymess- do you have to ship it back for the upgrade? Or can you download off the internet and use the USB connection? (I think the Duramax crowd can do the internet download for their 150 HP program after a few $$ and a waiver??)

I was recently looking at where all these diesel performance places are located via Mapquest and just can't believe it with 3 diesel performance outfits within decent driving distance from here - 4 hours to the Edge factory and a Diesel Dynamics rep in Utah and about 6 hours to Bullydog in Aberdeen. Road trip possibilities... what's to do in Aberdeen?

whats to do in aberdeen,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well tour the bdog facilities is the most excitment in town :) they do have some cute women in aberdeen too btw

that dd rep in ogden,,,,,,,,,,,a purty nice guy too, he is. and a pleasure to deal with

as far as upgrades,,,,at this time ya gotta ship it back. they are setting up for the internet download so ya can download thru the usb connection but that aint ready,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, yet

Does the upgrade take care of the surging when you have the cruise on or is it just for the flat spot? Also do I have to send it back to the place I bought it from or can I send it back directly to BD?

Thanks

JIM

jim,,,,,,,,,,just 4 the flt spot. the surging on crus,i believ is the extra power and more responsivness, a litl pedal goes a long way :) also heard of several diffrnt brand of pwr enhancements on severl diff yrs of rigs doing same

as for sending back 4 upgrde,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all depends on the place u got it from and their custmr service. if they good place and take care of ya properly try ther 1st. if any doubts send it to bdog [in idaho, not bd of canada ;) ] they have great cstmr service and will take care of the flatspot for ya
