The pic says it all

Makes me sick....

I am posting this for two reasons, one to vent about this situation and the other is to make sure no other TDR members get into any transaction with Chris Rudd (TDR username crudd).

He posted a pump for sale on the TDR classifieds. I email him and he calls me back within a few hours and I agree to purchase the pump. Everything went well and smoothly with the purchase. Things went south when the pump arrived.

The packaging of the pump was terrible. The only packaging material was a bit of bubble wrap. The pump was not packaged tightly in the box so it was allowed to roll around inside in the box. Because of the poor packaging the AFC housing was damaged (one of the corners was cracked off) and there is something metal rolling around in the governor section of the pump.

I contacted Chris and he was a little hard to get a hold of (this is when I started posting on the TDR for him to check his private messages https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152394 ). He got back with me and I thought all would be ok. He offered to pay for repairs or refund my money. Since there was no way of knowing the cost of repairs I thought a refund would be a better way to go. I made that decision and notified Chris on March 2.

Since then I have called him several times and left several messages, PM’d him several times here on the TDR, posted on the TDR, and sent him several emails. The last I heard from him was Feburary 28th. I know he was on the TDR on March 13 but appearently he did not check his PM's. It doesn't matter because I have left several messages on his phone and still he does not get back with me.

I was under the impression that dealing with fellow TDR members I would be less likely to get scammed but unfortunately some TDR members do not have the integrity to live up to their words.

Also, it appears that I may not be the only one to have some bad dealing with Chris Rudd.

WARNING: I would be very careful with any dealings with Chris Rudd.

I will say that Chris can still make things right with me. All he has to do is to come through and do what he told me he would. Maybe he has a really good reason why he was unable to contact me???? I can't say that I forsee this happening but I guess anything is possible.

Sorry Bob, I didn't mean funny because of the people who got burned (obviously I don't think that is funny). I thought it was funny because Gene brought it up in this thread.

I'm terrible.

What sucks, is both these cases CAN be fixed!!!! We all understand crap happens, Communication goes a long way. Making an effort to right wrongs is not impossible.

I will add a little bit to the story.

I got a call from the pump shop today about what could possibly be wrong with the pump. The "metal" rolling around in the governor section was actually a screw. It was the set screw used to adjust the governor arm. So I was rather happy to hear that but there is more. The rack is stuck! It looks like the pump was busted before Chris even sent it and he was probably messing around trying to adjust the governor arm and figure out what was wrong with it and he either dropped the screw in the pump or did not tighten it very well so it worked it's way out.

The pump shop is 100% convinced the rack was stuck before the pump even shipped!!!!!

Just for the record here is an exact quote from the ad here on the TDR when Chris posted the pump for sale:

"Pump has about 135k miles on it and works great. It is totally stock and ready to go"

It could not have "worked great" with a stuck rack and it shipped without a fuel plate so it was not "totally" stock.

My new warning:

Absolutely do not deal with Chris Rudd. He is a crook!

Thanks Chris

I didn't expect that kind of a raw deal from a Murfreesboro, Tennessee man, they raise their kids better than that down there.

It's looks like he moved to Atlanta. Maybe the big city changed him, but I'm guessing he was still a crook before he moved there.

CRudd

I have temporarily suspended CRudd's ability to post to the website pending his follow up with the other members trying to contact him. I will PM him of this action. He will continue to have access to PMs so that he can contact you.

Anyway I finally ended up getting the pump back from the shop. The repair bill was over $800 for parts and labor. Add this to the premium price I paid for the pump and I have a very expensive 215 pump. This sure ended up being a very expensive mistake.

I guess I should look at the brite side of things :( The good thing is I have a completely gone over 215 pump that was tore down, inspected, repaired, bench tested, calibrated, and tweaked a little bit. Given the amount of money I have tied up into this thing now I think I may have to sell it even though I am sure it will be at a loss.

Anybody interested in purchasing this pump please shoot me a PM.

BTW, I still haven't heard from Chris

What all did they do to it at the shop? How much are you asking for it? I saw several ads here for a couple of big EEP built pumps for ~$1550.
