If I were heading up that way I'd be checking out Logan Canyon. Depending how "close" to the lake you want to be, you should be able to find something of one of the many sideroads that branch off. I am looking at the Utah Atlas & Gazetteer and it looks like there are at least 3 campgrounds (not what we consider quiet camping) and numerous fireroads to off "remote" possibilites. Bear Lake is going to be a mess this weekend (Pioneer Weekend) so I'd be looking up the canyon from the lake about 10-15 miles out. It is beautiful and very forested up there. If the River isn't still raging, it should be a good place to wet a fly too!
My wife and I are heading back to the Uintahs in the Black Fork area on the North Slope. Nobody back there!
