The other night I was just cruising down a 4 lane highway/street (not really sure which since its osted speeds are highway speeds but it has stop lights all along it. All the sudden the vehicle next to me that I was not paying attention to cause I was messing with my XM lets out an exhaust blast letting me know that they meant business and takes off. I turn and look and it is the newest body styled Chevy with a Duramax. As I floor it to catch up I can see it has banks exhaust, as I am pulling next to it and in front of it... I see on the A pillar that he has all the gauges and on his fender is a Banks Power System decal. Just as I am able to show the power of the Cummins... We come upon one of those stoplights... so we both have to calm it down. Light turns green and off we both go. Through the intersection he holds up next to me cause I was having to role through the gears and he had an auto. But within a few feet of going through the intersection I broke way from him. I go about my merry way ahead of him down the rode. Again, another stoplight. This time I improved on my gear shifting and beat him through the intersection and broke away from him after that. A couple miles down the rode at another stop light,,, he pulls next to me again. He looks over at me like he is trying to stare a hole right through my skull. Light turns and off we are again, and again I am beating him... After that I come to my street and head home. I thought that it was funny how he willing stepped up to the plate three times in a row and never won.

I did the same thing to a brand new 05 Harley Davidson Edition Ford 250 a couple days ago. We were just coming out of town and he came up behind me on a four lane road and proceeded to pull out and mash it... I saw the black smoke fly from his exhaust and I knew he had a chip of some kind. He got right up beside me and I let loose with the TST on 4/3 and EZ and lvl2 and left him quite easily. We got up to the next light and when it turned green he took off again. This time I didn't let him get a jump and I left him gasping for air in all the exhaust and tire smoke! He flagged me down and insisted I give him a ride in my truck and commenced to cussing and moaning about how much faster my truck was than his and he even had a big bully dog box on his. I think he was quite disappointed in his truck even though he just got it out of the show room two weeks ago!

Nice. I whooped up on one in my '01 6 speed last year on Highway 441. First, I have to admit, his auto got the best of me until I reached 4th gear and then it was on.

At the next light, we went through it and I was already in 4th and beat him clean. After I was sure he knew he had been spanked I slowed down (didn't want a ticket). He got up, shot me a look and went around me. :-laf

My buddy has a duramax and he ate my lunch a couple of times from a standstill. Both trucks stock. He says he has never been beaten to 70 mph by a stock cummins. Since mine got bought back, I got a hemi Durango. I got even last night. Nice to see his headlights in my mirror for a change. Still miss the awesome Cummins. Just got back from a 4,200 mile trip south and back, avg 20. 7 mpg @ 70 mph. Sweet.

You guys are cruel, you know you shouldn't do that to those poor Powerjokes and Dumbamax. They can't help it if were born inferior. Grizzly

You're truck is modded right. If not I call BS. I love my new Cummins Dodge but the Juiced Duramax I traded in would walk all over it in a dragrace. I ran 14's in the qt mile in a crewcab 4x4 03 duramax/Allison at 7400 lbs. I have a video of the truck spinning the tires in 4 hi at half track. I haven't raced the Dodge and probably never will be I have to think it runs high 16's at best.

Stock against stock auto Duramax vs. stick Cummins, you will get beat, I have a hard time believing you could beat a stock auto Duramax with a stick Cummins with just a Ramifier. My bubby has a dually auto Duramax and it is way faster than my stock auto Cummins. Nothing against the Cummins but it is not a racing motor and the stick makes it really not a racing motor, as you lose boost at every shift.

I couldn't beat him off the line with a stick. But together at 45 mph with me in fourth was a different story. I agree boost is lost, but is pretty quickly regained if the engine is under load. Mine was definitely under load as was his. Plus, him running an automatic would cause him to have more loss to the rear wheels. Finally, I was running a 4. 10 rear which mean I was good to go for fast acceleration. Once out of those lower gears and more into the road gears where I'm depending on torque to pull, I was able to handle his auto.

BTW, is BERTRAM 65 your handle or a description of a nice looking boat?

I find it hard to believe that a duramax with just the juice was spinning all 4 tires at half track!! Was there Ice on it? And was quick enough to hot 14's????? Nice try! April fools day is the first of this month.

Hot Juice and a drop in amsoil filter were the only mods. 14. 88@92. 73 mph spinning all four skinny tires at 600 ft. You should check out a Chevy site sometime. My truck was slow compared to some of the other ones. I guess the video I have is all a dream because some uninformed guy doesn't believe it. I had about 200 witnesses at Norwalk Raceway Park in Norwalk Ohio on May 19 2003.

Time slip

Reaction time . 598

60' 2. 150

330' 6. 218

660' 9. 630

MPH 73. 89

1/4 Mile 14. 88@92. 73

There ya go.
If the original poster did actually beat the Duramax I suspect the Dmax wasn't racing or didn't know how to drive. An auto transmission should stomp a stick shift in a drag race, especially with forced induction.

I will half to see the video to belive and then I might. Does it come from hollywood? I seen a 67 mustang jump a flatbed tow truck and clip an ambulence and landed just fine. In fact nick cage made it back just in time to take his brothers spot!!

I have to back up Roofer Dave. If you ever get a chance to drive a Juiced d-max WITH intake and exhaust and an auto trans it WILL TURN A 14 in 1/4 mile.

But I still will not give up my Cummins cause I know that same truck pulling a 10k trailer dont have a chance against a Cummins pullin the same

in the new diesel truck magazine , the mighty cummins showed its tail to both the powerjoke and the durastink. All were stock trucks with autos

High 14's ain't hard to believe with the duramax and a fueling box. Shoot my 99 24 valve ran 14. 90's with an Edge drag race box, an exhaust and a torque converter... . Nothing all that impressive.

Now if you said the duramax ran mid 13's, like most of them do with the good mods, then I'd be impressed.

Glad your truck out ran him but be careful because my 03 Duramax is out there somewhere with the ATS transmission, 215 Quadzilla programmer, Duramaximizer, ATS Propane and 4in exhaust! I was never beaten by a Cummins-not even close because esp when launching in 4wd! Maybe I did not run up against the right one. :)

Guys I have no problem with the 14 sec run. I have seen them run. There was a guy at the local track with stacked chips and a **** load of nitrous and propane run a 11. 78. Extended cab 4x4 with 33's. Not a problem. Didn't sound the best on launch but what ever. My question is "smoking all 4 tires to the 1/8 mile and then still running a 14 sec 1/4 mile. All with just an edge? Prove me wrong! Lee.

P. S. I have been to a few diesel events and I don't recall all the big boys even spinning all 4 tires through the 1/8.

The Dodge is this race was a stick against a auto Duramax.

My truck had skinny 255/85/16 Cooper tires on it at the time. With the two sets of larger tires I put on it later it wouldn't do that. It broke traction on the shift around half track. I'm technologically challenged and don't know how to post a video.

I can assure you I'm not lying. I don't think i could get the 200+ people in our car club to lie.
