WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET.

TRUE OR NOT?

WHAT THE HECK IT'S WORTH A TRY. THIS EVEN WORKS INTER-STATE.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET

This system has been tried and it works in every state.

If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, and you're going to get points on your license. This is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get the points.

When you get your fine, send in a check to pay for it. If the fine is $79. 00 make the check out for $82. 00 or some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference, however here is the trick.

DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK! Throw it away!

Points are not assessed to your license until all financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT complete. The system has received it's money and is satisfied and will no longer bother you.

This information comes from an unmentionable computer company that sets up the standard databases used by every state.

For speeding, my neighbor who is a retired hwy patrol said this has worked for him:

First thing they asked: is it true he has a CCW permit. He states yes and that he is armed. He then refuses to show the officer the weapon so the officer can not construe it as an act of aggression.

Second the officer told him he was speeding and how fast he was going and what the speed limit is. Neighbor told him that he wanted to see the radar gun and the guns most recent calibration results. The officer was unable to produce the results and he knew he should have them, but never had anyone ask for them before and had to let my neighbor go free.

Around here if you ask to see the radar gun, they WILL fine you for the amount that is registered on the gun. If you try and talk your way out of it and tell the officer that you thought you were only gong xx amount MPH, that "Supposedly" gives the cop some leeway on what he actually writes up the ticket for. Known from experience... :{

Although I have also gotten pulled over for multiple traffic violations and all the cop wanted to do is talk about my car ( 70 Charger ) . Never got a fine from it though, at least in Texas anyway. :D

Every september like clock work people in alaska get pulled over for no reason. Just because they got a trophy moose in the bed of the truck and the police officer has to work and can't go hunting. Rarely do they get tickets however.

Also ask if the signs meet the standards for reflectivity. most don't and that is not a legal highway sign.

Come on guys!!

Do you really think that trafic courts that process thousands of cases a year (When I was in traffic court in the late '60s and 70s, we processed over 40,000 citations per year, and thats po-dunk southern Oregon) is going to be "tricked" by some silly gimick that they have allready delt with a few hundred times in the past few months???

Assume a Judge or a senior court clerk has only been on the job for a couple years; they would have delt with in excess of a 100k citations. Do you think you are going to run a scam they are not prepared to deal with? In addition, they go to a couple training programs a year where they compare notes with other courts and law enforcement agencies on what new scams are going on.

Bwaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

daveinalaska,

Get real! You sound like a Chechacko. And a jealous one at that. The only ones who are interested in the game in the back of your pickup are the folks at Fin and Fur. And that is only because of all the really stupid (expleative deleted)people who hunt up here.

Well the last time I was stopped (about 4 or 5 years ago), I was just east of Henrietta, Texas on Highway 82. I was going 75 in a 70 zone. Texas State Police was going in the opposite direction. Our eyes met. I pulled over before he could finish his U-Turn. He walked up to the car and I already had my license, insurance, and registration out. He asked me if I knew how fast I was driving and I asked him what his radar said. He told me it showed that I was going 75. I looked at him and said, "Well, I guess my speedometer is correct because that's exactly what it said, too. " He looked at me for a second, and only wrote me a warning. He was probably stunned that I would actually admit the speed I was going and didn't try to talk my way out of a ticket.

Worked for me once. Don't want to try it again.

I figured it was just internet "lore". Besides, with a little help from the CB, letting someone else be the rabbit and the grace of God, I have not had a speeding ticket since 78'.

What ever highway you are on, at any given time, their will allways be some one in a bigger hurry. The Rabit! Let him get about a mile ahead and keep his tail lights just in veiw. This has served me well too  :D

The General District Courts in VA can keep any overpayments up to $20 - beats writing all those refund checks. This whole 'don't cash your refund check' thing is nonsense - complete urban legend. TPCDrafting's idea is a workable one, though you may have to wait until your actual trial to try it out.
