I am just wondering what the majority of people like in the back of there truck bed?

What do you like in your truck bed and why?

Pro's & Con's?

If you have something and would rather go a different route and could do it over again what would you get?

I need a box to transport work tools, too many to keep in the cab. Spray-in bedliner. Gooseneck ball, to tow my house. Stacks, no explanation needed!!

I have a cap (or topper - whatever  )

I have had a cap on the last four of my Pickups (including my current setup)

With the stuff I carry It's nice to have the piece of mind that it won't get rained on and it's somewhat secure.

I also have th bedrug. It helps keeping things from sliding around but also gives it a cushion. (and a litttle nicer on the knees)

The only thing I don't like about it is the in-ability to STACK your truck. It would be the next thing I do if I ditch the cap.

I've got an Extang Full Tilt on my truck right now. I really like it, but my needs are changing. We have an 80 lb German Shorthair (Diesel) and he usually gets the whole back seat. With a baby on the way, he's going to need a new place to stay when traveling, so I'm probably going to get a topper and make a deck at bedrail height. He will stay on the deck, our stuff will go under the deck, and the baby and cooler will get the back seat. We'll leave the back window open for Diesel and he'll be somewhat heated and cooled in the back. I've seen this setup on a couple of trucks on the TDR.

I have a DZ deep box across the rail. It's the lockable storage for the things you don't want to carry in the cab yet need (mostly want) to haul around just in case. Gives it that nice truck accent as well.

I have 7" stacks, full size weather gaurd from rail to rail and behind that a mini pickup husky tool box that fits perfectly between the wheel wells. So I have a whole 30" of open bed. Once the moneys here i'll get a aluminum flatbed 8x8. 5 with saddle boxes along the entire sides.

I have a short box with an over the rails Weatherguard (Black). I like the tool box but it does kill some room. I think ideally, if I had a long bed I would want an over the rails or toolbox/aux fuel tank combo and for a SWB I would go with a truck cap. The only real drawback that I see for a cap is the ability to hookup a gooseneck easily or hall stuff like say an elk or a load of rock without playing musical-truckboxes.

I like the Century cap with opening side windows. I have cut two pieces of 3/4 plywood to fit across the box rails and each are 2 feet wide. With two of these I have a 4 ft shelf across the front of the box. By opening the side windows I can access the shelf area. This leaves the floor of the pickup box empty to store anything that is larger or to roll out a sleeping bag. I can also remove one or both shelves and lay them flat on the pickup bed floor. This gives me the full volume of the bed of the pickup opened up. The Century cap is also reinforced to handle a rack mounted on the top. I find the rack kind of high for most things but I have used it for hauling my christmas tree and moving a large ladder. I have used this system on my last two pickups and find it works great for my type of hauling. I also have the side windows and tailgate window wired into the Viper alarm system. With the Vipers two way transceiver I will be alerted if anyone opens any of the widows.

I also have a rubber bed mat on the bed floor and tailgate. If I was doing this today I would scratch the rubber mat and go with one of the carpet liners that are available.

I have a A. R. E. Cap, Line-x, Bed Silde, and two Craftsman side mount 5 drawer tool boxes that mount on eighter side of the bed silde, EZ Down tailgate helper.

For bed accessories I'm not into the whips and chains and pain (sally is), I prefer handcuffs, swings,,,, or were you talking about something else?

Bed box/fuel tank. This is why I got a long box. I still wanted to put in lumber and OHVs when needed.

Those hard covers over truck beds just turn them into big trunks. What a waste. Why buy a truck and try to make it a car?????

Iv got a rollup cover on mine because we plan on getting a fiver and it wouldnt work with anything else.

However, if I had to do it over I would get a different manufacturer than what I have.

This is my third full size Diesel truck. The other two had caps on them (Raven's), but this truck is a fifth wheel puller, so I went to a box. I just like having a place to lock up my stuff besides the cab (there are frequntly five in there).

Besides, I think duallies don't look as good with caps as a single wheel truck (both my others were SRW's).
