I never really carry anything large in the bed, and like the look of a bed cover. I had an Extang regular tonno on my '96 gasser. I had an Extang Full-Tilt on my '01. 5 CTD. I'm now looking at options for my '03 QC SRW SWB. What are your opinions? Thanks!

David,

I checked the pics in your gallery. Are those the flaps that Mopar calls "heavy duty rubber?" If so, that is what I'm looking at. As a bonus you're running the 315/70R17s I'm planning on running. Thanks.

A friend of mine has a "K-Cover" on his Ford. It is a hard cover that hinges (in his case-short Ford box, 2 sections). For regular short beds or long beds, the cover would come in 4 sections. It's aluminum/foam sandwich construction and seems very well built. You can lock the cover at the front and rear of the box.

He had a topper on his old truck but went with this on his new truck. He needs to be able to haul his pontoon kick boat and the hard cover works well for this. It's a pretty easy install and the web site covers this in detail.

I've got a topper on my present pickup but am thinking of the K Cover for my Dodge when it gets here. Their web site is one of the best sites I've seen. Worth a trip even if you're not interested just to see a well designed web site. The site is at: http://www.kcovers.com/

I had a question and e-mailed them Sat. evening and received a long, personal e-mail from the owner Sunday evening answering the question. Pretty impressive.

(I have no interest in this outfit. Just thought it was kinda neat. )

I'm going to try Roll-N-Lock. No personal experience with them. Have friends with the Pace Edwards that work really well, even in snow/ice. The Roll-N-Lock appears to be even better built. I consiously shopped them during a big snow/ice storm. The guy at the (R-N-L) distributer had one, and it worked great. Pricy, but they offer the versitility of a soft cover (for 5th wheel, hauling, etc. ) with the security (lockable) of a hard one.

Check out the Access Roll cover, I had one for 6 years and two trucks. It was still in great shape when I sold it with my '00. Put a new one on my '03. (different style) Handy unit if towing with 5th -goose or hauling high loads. My 2 cents.
