I really liked the drop in liner on my 06, until I went out 4-wheeling, and with the windows down, and the bed empty, it rattled. So, I haven't put a liner in the 07 yet. Thinking of spray in, or do it yourself brush in, or a bed mat. Haul firewood, dump runs, and just general pick up stuff. Most of the time, I have the canopy (topper for you east coast folks) on, and the only stuff in the back is secured in a plastic tote.

So, what did you do, and would you do it again?

I used Linex and couldnt be happier. It has been in there since new and 220k and 7 years later it still looks good. I dont doubt that it has faded a bit but it still looks black to me. It has hauled tons of rock, lumber, firewood etc and done what it is supposed to do. My previous truck had a drop in in it. I took it out once just to have a look see and clean out the stuff that had gotten underneath it. I wasnt suprised but was dismayed at what I saw. 75% of the paint was worn off underneath. I am guessing it wasnt rusted because the liner kept sanding it off. I will never use a drop in again.

Spray-in of your choice. I experienced the same thing as BarryG in my 97 Gas version Dodge. Last two trucks have been Rhino-lined.

liner

Don't even think about go for the spray on. I got the rhino spray on can't beat it.

07 2500 qc 6spd h. o. 5. 9 inferno red/silver. I paid for it... .

FWIW, I had about 200 miles on my 05 and I had the LineX done.

Hardest part was sitting in the waiting area and hearing a grinder knowing it was being used on my truck.

I had Lewis Dodge, in Hays KS spray in Toff Liners in both my '97 and my '05 and absolutely loved it. Superior product to Rhino and Line-X, IMO. I actually enjoyed watching the kid grind on my truck! :-laf He was extremely anal-retentive and did a great job on both trucks. I actually drove from Maryland to Kansas to have my '05 done... we were on our way to Idaho to visit the in-laws, but it was a good excuse to stop. The kid took my factory liner out, cut out the Ram logo and affixed it to the front of the bed, then sprayed over it... one-off, as far as I know. A mechanic at Keene Dodge, in Jarrettsville, MD has my truck now... hopefully he's enjoying it.

When I scrape the money together, I'm getting a Toff Liner sprayed in the '01... I have a Ram logo from a scrapped liner :D

I had a liner out of dad's '02 that I threw in my '01 to sell it. Nobody wanted it. It was the factory one and I had to tell people it was going with the truck whether they wanted it or not.

Plastic liners suck. Spray on is the way to go. Self applied from a can is OK for seldom use, but I've never seen one good enough for regular use.

Crysteel has a new one that i've never seen before. The first layer goes on thick. It completely cover the ribs in the bed. The second layer is a non-slip surface. I think it was about $800 for a pickup bed. Kinda spendy, but if you're looking for something that will outlast the truck...

rhino, line-x, tuff hell there are many choices. just make sure its a spray-on. drop ins are the worst. they do more damage than good. the bed can't breathe at all. when it rains water will get caught under the drop-in, it also rubs the paint off from vibrations. keep a drop-in and in a couple a years your bed will look like sh**. rusted!!!!! my personal preference is line-x.

I'm glad you are happy with your bedliner. But, technically speaking, Toff is definately is not superior to LINE-X or Rhino. Toff is a 100% polyurethane product as opposed to LINE-X which is a polyurethane/polyurea blend. Rhino's old Tuff Stuff was 100% polyurethane but now their new reformulated Tuff Stuff, now called Tuff Grip, does contain some polyurea (although it's not as strong as LINE-X). LINE-X literally has more than double the tear strength of Toff and LINE-X has a 31% higher tear strength than Rhino Tuff Grip. LINE-X also offers a product called Xtra which is fade resistant and contains Dupont Kevlar for extreme durability. Currently, no other brand has a product like LINE-X Xtra.

I have had all three: Drop-in, Rhino and Line-X and they got better each time. Line-X looks and wears better. One word of caution... they may claim to get it 1/8" to 3/16" on the bed. Don't believe it. I cut a 4" hole in mine for a B&W hitch and found it to be only 1/16" thick. This material is pricey and they will try and save it.

Drop in differant view

I travel the country and have seen well over 200 liners in the bar didtch along the freeways. I have to assume they ... blow out ? ?

I have had a factory drop-in plastic liner in my '99 Dakota Club Cab 4x4 truck since I bought it new, and while better than nothing at all, I would never go that direction again. It is pretty beat up (scratched & a bit warped here and there). But what it's done to the paint on the bed and bed walls underneath it is pretty gross. I also find that a lot of stuff I put in the bed slides around on it (no real grip).

For my '07 Power Wagon and then my '07 3500, I went with Line-X with the Line-X Xtra overcoat (the latter of which has Kevlar and additional anti-fade UV protectants in it), and I have been completely happy with the product and look. It is really tough stuff, and items in the bed don't slide around hardly at all. I also have a slide-in camper and it's great for that as well (although I do use a heavy-duty rubberized bed mat to actually sit the camper on). The combination of the Line-X and bed mat really keeps my camper from sliding or shifting around (whereas folks who have tried using a camper on top of a drop-in liner have had nothing but problems with their campers sliding around).

After having had both, I would never use a drop-in liner again.

I applied this: "Rust-Oleum Road Warrior Protective Truck Bed Coating Kit", about 2 years ago. Picked it up at a yard sale for $20. It has dulled a bit where exposed to the sun but otherwise has held up well. Easy to apply. It will chip if you smack it hard enough to dent the bed (don't ask how I know this). It has a hard non-skid surface. I applied it up over the top of the bed rails.

I would say that it's a excellent finish, for the price (retail is about $80/gal I think), for light or medium duty use.
