Probably been covered in great detail but I can't do a search so, what are your opinions on the different spray on bed liners? My truck came with an over the rail hard plastic one but I took it out because it peels the paint off the side of the box. I have been looking at arma coatings and rhino linings and so far like the arma coatings because of the finish it has and the small even texture. Any pros or cons or other options?

TT1,I have LineX spray in bed liner in my truck and it's going on 4 years now and it still looks great. A buddy of mine Brain has Rhino liner in his Dodge and it kind of looks like cottagecheese, the texture just doesn't look very nice. The rhino liner also seems to be softer than the LineX, this is good and bad, things tend to slide more in my bed than his. The LineX is pretty tough, I have taken and slid a pallet full of quickcreate in the bed of the truck and it didn't even scratch the liner. A lot of the sprayed in liners are only as good as the person installing them. Look at some people's truck with the different kinds of liners and deside witch one looks better and go with it. Just make sure the shop knows what they're doing.

I have an '02 and ended up going with a drop in liner under the rail with pro caps on the rails and a rubber mat on top of the liner to keep cargo from shifting. One note, the dodge tail gate piece fits the tail gate much better than aftermarkets, it is predrilled and fits using the stock hardware ( no drilling required ). Upon installing the liner I put insulation foam down on the bed to prevent scratching. If it does get scratched I could always add the spray in liner, which is very permanete. One other thought is that if you have the spray in liner it will still dent if your cargo shifts and impacts the bed side. The plastic liner offers a little shock buffer from impacts, but you lose a little cargo area due to the radius of the liner. Just my thoughts, it is still personal preference.

All's I can say is RHINO RHINO RHINO all the way nothing else no cheasy imposters. TO me not buying a RHINO would be like going out and buyin a FORD or Chev or a gasser just because you got it cheaper. I worked for RHINO ofr about a year b/c I needed a part time job and was very very impressed with the product. I got my bedliner in last truck for 160 at cost. I still know the owner very well and as a matter of fact I just went today and got my new truck sprayed for free lol (the benefits of knowing people) and I had it done in gray to be different. I love the gray with my white truck I think gray looks awesome on certain trucks. I would not get the color match b/c it will fade and it is a lot more and is is slicker. My brother ahs a rhino in his Phord and he uses it every day in industrial repair. He has had heavy things dropped in bed enough to dent, forks stab the bed liner, skids, they beat the sh&t out of that bed and there is just a few cuts in the liner. My advice is GO RHINO you won't regret it.

Enjoy the truck, wait to spray the bed until it really needs it. Spend that mone on gauges or other accessories.

i also vote for waiting. i elected to put in a rubber mat, then put a carpet mat on the tailgate. i can always spray in a liner when i scratch the bed up enough. saving up for a comp... ..... i'd rather have it than a spray in liner.

I also vote for the Rhino. I had mine sprayed in about a year ago when I bought the truck and have been very happy with it.



I have seen these liners take quite a bit of abuse without any damage.



Like someone already posted the liners are only as good as the installers so check out a few installations prior to getting the liner.

I've got the Arma coating (2 1/2 years old now) and like it. Can't say it's better or worse than any of the others, but it's still like new.

When I was looking at which spray on liner to put on my truck, I looked at both the Rhino and Line-X. They both looked good, but the Line-X is sprayed on hot and cures quickly. Also, the Line-X dealer had a piece of Rhino liner and Line-X. When he rubbed them together, the Line-X sanded the Rhino liner down. Rhino seemed to be a little softer material. Went with the Line-X...

I agree with some of the people in this forum about waiting a while before you have the bed sprayed, if that's what you want to do. I had a 98. 5 CTD with the sprayed in bed liner. Had it done about three weeks after purchase. The liner began to peel because the bloak that sprayed the liner, forgot to sand down the clear coat and paint for better adhesion. Wait. When your bed looks like H... . Then take it to several different vendors and select the best coating for your application. There are several good companies out there that do a good job and there are also others that you wish would burn up in the night. But my advise would be to wait, use the back of the bed for a while and when its scratched up really well, have it coated. It'll wear like iron and look snazzy too.

Having owned both Rhino and Line-X, I can tell you that the Line-X is a more durable product. The Rhino lining seems more ruber like and would gouge out fairlly easy. The Line-X is harder and seems to wear much better. I've had it on my truck now three years and use the bed heavily- including broken concrete and steel.

Just be very careful on the shop you use! I took my 2002 QC 2500 4x4 in on a Thurs night to have it sprayed Fri. morning and when I picked it up after work on Friday I noticed that there was an additional 40 miles on my truck. The dip ***** OWNER decided that he would take my truck to pickup a part for his broken down RhinoLining pump! When I left my truck he assured me that it would be locked up tight in his shop. Yea right! I had a rather heated discussion with both owners but without much satifaction. If you live in the Lynnwood WA area stay away from RhinoLinings on Highway 99 in Lynnwood. I like the bed liner the their business practices SUCK! Phil



BTW at least my truck wasn't wrecked like a gentlemans truck was in Tri Cities. And one more thing I found out, RhinoLinings Corp. WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THE CONSUMER IN THESE CASES. THEY WASH THEIR HANDS OF IT!

I'm very happy with the line-x in my truck. Has been very durable and still looks good.

Take a look at PermaTech ... . "Technology sprayed on "... . I have Line-X right now, and while I think it's great, it's not as durable as they would have you to believe. My propane tank wore through the Line-X in less than 3 weeks, down to the bare metal.

I'm in the process of becoming a PermaTech dealer, so of course I'm biased towards them, but I do think it's a superior product. Check out their website at: www.perma-tech.com

As for waiting till the bed is all scratched up to get it done, that's okay, but another way to look at it is, do it now, it lessens the possibility of unsightly dents that will be highlighted by the bedliner after it's sprayed in. I had my truck bed sprayed when the truck had less than 7000 miles on it.

I have had a Rhino liner in since 1997. I have hauled every thing from gravel to concrete. I recently got a cut from loading a motorcycle the hard way(no time to embelish) I called the folks who srayed it and they said bring it in and they would fix it at no cost. Not bad!. Mine was spayed to match my two tone truck. I also installed my 5th wheel hitch after it was sprayed. I am very satified!

I have the Rhino and if enybody gets anything else, you are dumb and stupid. My bedliner is the best.

Seriously, the installer is the key to a good job. I went with the Rhino because the local Rhino Dealer is meticulous about his work. He requires the truck to be dropped off the night before and it sits in a climate controlled bay (entire building for liners only) over night.



I didn't want to chance that the Local Line-x installer was good or bad. After all, once these things are sprayed, there is no changing back.



I have loaded beds with both the Rhino and Line-x and the anit-skid of both is great (ie, really bites to slide anything on it):-{} :-{}

I've got Rhino, too.

I guess it boils down to personal preference. They're both good products, but different.



Personally, I like the softer texture - more rubbery - of the Rhino than the hard, "non-skid" texture (anyone who's ever been out on a carrier can relate) of the Line-X. I also like the look of the Rhino over the Line-X, but that's totally subjective.



Bottom line, find a good dealer and go with the one you think will best serve you. You can't go wrong with either.



A guy I worked with used to be an F&I guy at a car dealership and said, "you're stupid if you don't get one of those liners". I had already decided to get one, but that was good to hear. Got mine w/in 3 months of getting the new truck and will do so again with any new pickup I get down the road.
