Beef up the front end ?

When I bought my truck I guess I wasn't thinking right. #ad
I should have gotten it with the snow plow package #ad
Does anyone know if I can do a after market modification that would allow me to install a winch #ad
I once installed a winch on another truck without a beefed up front end suspension and at 32000 the front end was gone #ad
so don't want to do that again.

The snow plow prep has stiffer front coils, auto transmission overheat lamp, and the HD transfer case. There is nothing in it that will make your truck cope with a winch any better than what you have now. I found that when I actually measured things, the extra 250 ot 300 lbs that my winch and frame added has not caused any sag in the front end, which is the only thing the snop plow pkg. 's stiffer springs might have helped with.

With the Diesel, I was told that the front end was the same as the 3500. Before I installed my plow I asked the question about the "snow plow prep" the dealer said it involved heavy duty alt. ( comes on the diesel), aux. A/T cooling and that was it, maybe the dealer was feeding me a line??? But, I don't seem to have any problems yet!

I made the same mistake. A common solution seems to be ordering a set of 2" lift Skyjacker coil springs. I will be having a set installed on my truck within a couple of weeks. They are a progressive rate coil. I drove a truck with them the other day and liked the ride very much. About $320 including installation.

Snow plow prep also includes a HD transfer case. A 241HD instead of a regular 241. Trucks with the plow prep also sit pretty level because of the heavier front springs. At least mine does. I also have the camper prep. It still rides pretty plush compared to my '94 F-250 PSD.
