Have you ever had your pick/up checked?? How do they stick the tank exactally? Sorry for the dumb question.

Never been checked. I wish they set up a check locally,so so many guys running it,its time for a good cleansing of these road tax beaters. I can get red for 60 cents a gal less than clear, its not worth it to me,ill stick with clear, and drive at ease at inspection checkpoints.

Red Fuel Check

Never been checked but they don't have to "stick" the tank when all they need to do is drain a sample off the filter housing like you would drain the water out.

BV,

I hope your filter is easer to get to than mine. If they wanted to take a sample out of mine they would be between a rock and a hard place. First of all it is very, very difficult to access it. And you couldn't get it out of the tank due to the roll over ball in there and my filter does not have a drain on it. What do they do then?

I have heard the chemical in the dye that makes the fuel red can be detected by getting a soot sample from the tailpipe.

I've heard that also but don't know how it could be true. Seems like the soot from your very first tank of fuel would be in the tailpipe as well as the very last unless you cleaned it out. What if you had been running red offroad several fill ups earlier. After all it is legal to run red fuel as long as you don't go on a public road.

Guess they could open a bleed screw and see what comes out if the drain is too hard to get at.

The red stays in the tank for a long time, even aftar you switch back to clear fuel,i wouldnt run red in any on highway truck, even if its off road 90% of the time.

Not much

They do not need much fuel for sample. They do stick the tank, useing a gadget that sucks fuel from the tank. All they need is approx 10 ccs for sample.

Been Checked........

State Tropper here in Louisiana stopped me on the way home from work one evening. Asked if he could check my fuel, gave me a little handout to read over, took a small size tubing and tried to get fuel out of the tank. Didn't get much but said it was enough to tell I was OK.
