Just saw a travel trailer in Walmart parking lot in Port Arthur, Noticed a tire missing on left side, drove by to get a closer look. Evidently had a tire failure to start things off or maybe a broken spring, anyway the wheel well and side trim over the wheel well are wiped out, the spring on that axle is broken on the equalizer end, the spindle and backing plate are gone, looks like the axle broke at the weld. bg

Had a friend loose one off of an Airstream, they had to spend an extra week in the FL Keys waiting for parts, boo hoo hoo. Somebody had to flag him down. Never did figure out if overtorqued lugs or undertorqued.

I came close, twice. First was grease seals the prevented greasing the wheel bearings ( brakes had plenty! ) That led to nearly loosing a wheel, thankfully a passing car flagged me down to tell me in the nick of time. Was able to repair with new bearings and seals with only a 4 hour delay. The second time, GY Marathon ST tires.. began to separate between plys, not noticeable by simply visual check.. that out of round was enough to break the spring that wheel. Fortunately not at full load and speed. In neither case was there any warning sign to notice from the tow vehicle.

I've come to learn, anything ST rated is inferior. LT is the way to go, or even extra load P tires, which I have installed currently.
