Before you replace your PS gear box I would scrutinize the suspension. I had a shop replace my PS gear box only to have ongoing problems. Months later a different shop tracked the problem to worn trailing arm bushings that were allowing the front rear end to really engage in a tug of war with the pitman arm on the gear box.

Also, I like my AGR power steering Super Pump but I would recommend paying an extra $150 for a complete pump (reservoir & drive gear installed). Removing the drive rear is not easy and with 150K on my truck the gear was really worn. Also, make sure you get your vacuum pump oil seal from Cummins not Dodge or it will leak. AGR doesn't advertise complete pump assemblies but they will build one for you if you ask.

Thats good news that the shop found your problem before it was too late. I've also seen a similar problem where the adjuster cams in the trailing arms have got worn out to a point that the rearend would move in/out.

Gary, I think he's referring to the piece on the PS pump that connects it to the vacuum pump. You know, the little round piece with the cross shaped hole in it.

Exactly. My gear was starting to get some raised edges. It very well may have lasted another 150K but why take a chance.
