IS the transmission bellhousing to engine adpater plate diffrent on a manual transmission then on an auto transmission.

example if a guy was converting auto to manual would he need the adapter for the getrag.

Travis

is it

The back of the engine on all the 6 and 4bt engines is exactly the same so the back plate then adapts whatever transmission configuration is used. So no, they are not the same adapter. When you change an automatic to a getrag, you must have guts feathers and all. Likewise the getrag is not the same as the NV. I believe the 727 adapter is different from the 518 as well. And the 518 different from the later version OD because of the converter lockup.

They are different, I found out the hard way when doing a failed auto to manual conversion. A differnet starter would be needed, my stater that I had with my auto, didnt bolt on to the stick engine to bellhousing plate.
