The fins on my condenser are bent over pretty bad. I bought a fin comb in an attemp to straighten them but they are bent so bad that it just doesn't work. They are bent from someone pressure washing it.

I found the best way to straighten them is to use a test light and work in small sections. For fun I hook up the light to the + side of the battery so the light lights when I touch a fin. (Tell people I'm looking for a short in the radiator) :)

My truck does not run hot, even when pulling our 38' fiver. I was wondering how much this affects the intercooler? Does it take away hp?

It takes a long time to do a 3 of 4" square area but that is what I am doing.

The only place the fins were not bent was behind the bumper. I priced a new condenser ... . 3 bills plus another $90. 00 to recharge if I wanted to go that route. I will continue straightening...

Thanks,

Brian

I've done the same bit on damaged window type A/C's - it just takes patience and lots of time - and gratitude for a grille that raises with the hood! ;) :D

But yes, anything you can do to improve airflow thru the concensor and radiator is a worthwhile plus - there's simply not that much extra margin of efficiency in these trucks - ANY brand - and adding power mods creates added heat that must be removed - and the cooling system is the only provided method we have!

Brian, I straighten mine all the time. I use an 1/8th inch flat head screwdriver. You're right, it takes alot of time, but it's also kind of relaxing.
