Is there anyone who can list all of the information you can get through the odometer/trip computer and how to do it? I've checked my engine hours before, but now I can't even remember how to do that.

to get hrs, have key on [engine off]with main odo showing then press and hold trip odo button till hr's appear. for a guage check press and hold odo button w/ key off then turn the key to on. engine off key pos in on, not start. an entertaining show will appear on dash. for code retrieval have key in off position and turn key to on 3 times then leave on for codes to appear in odo window. when finished it reads 'done'

a tech with the big handheld comptr that plugs in obd port under dash can tell hrs, total miles, highest speed, amnt fuel used, mpg thruout life of truck. hrs idled, amnt fuel used idleing, percent of time that x amount of throttle is used. can telll if ya hotrod or drive like a granny and what percent of time etc. lotta info in there

i was suprised when at a bombparty in idaho a dlr tech showed with his big scanner deal and plugged in under dash of my previous truck. had 251 total hrs but i wasted 52 of em idleing. had used 600 total gallllons fuel and 26 were wasted at idle. truck averaged till that time 14 mpg. lot of time towing.

the tech said i drove fairly easy most of the time but hen i go to pass i put my foot down all the way down. interesting

Thanks for all the good information. I sure wish there was some way for us to buy those computers they plug in to get the engine information. I know Cummins sells them for other applications, but I'm pretty sure they don't sell them for Dodge applications.

My first trip to the dealership was having the tach enabled. I don't know how I missed it not working when I done the test drive. Ended up buying the truck two days later an phoned the dealership to make it ready I would be there that night to purchase it. It was late when we finally left the dealership an they were closing, us being the last ones to leave, wifey was talking to me an I failed to notice tach not working again  as we were leaving. I got about five minutes away from dealership and then I noticed it was'nt working. The following day I went by an told them about the tach not working an service writer said just a minute let me try something. He went back to the shop for about five minutes then came back to my truck, Here it gets a little fuzzy remembering I believe he turned key to on position then he pressed on odo button an held it for a bit, the tach started going crazy back an fourth an stopped on 0. It was pegged all the way to the right to start with. Maybe any of the techs on here can explain how he fixed the tach or enabled it with odo button.

It sounds like the dealer did a dash board test. If you hold in the odo button and turn your truck to the on position it will do a self test of all the guages.

Hmmmm..... , anyone have an idea as to whether or not this may get rid of my intermittent " check gages" light? I already had the TSB for it done a while back, but the excellent techs at my DEALERSHIP also managed to fry my instrument cluster in the process, so no more of that from them!!!

I bet you have the Raz radio in your truck that fried more than one. I had the flash done after they figured out how to do it and have never had the light flash again. Good luck mine got so bad that the low washer would chime up twice an hour. The blinking check engine light I could ignore but when the washer started chiming I decided to risk losing the cluster, I left the TSB procedure on the seat and highlighted the Radio removal because of the RAZ radio.

Also if not already stated after the cluster self test you get the troubel codes if any you then can look them up here I think they are in the FAQ section

Yep Tom, have the RAZ radio in mine, if I remember correctly they also said something about forgetting to disconnect the E- Brake while doing the flash!! Geniuses ain't they !! :(

I never have tried that, its probably how they fixed it.
