I am thinking of geting a set of rickson 19. 5 wheels but I dont know what tire to get.

I read some of the posts and I see "michelins are noisy" and "poor wet traction" . Michelin makes so many treds do they all stink.

what does everybody think about the brand they picked? noise, traction, and handling?

I will probably go with the 245/70/19. 5 LRF 12ply, but help me decide on brand and model.

thanks

In the past I ran Michelin XZE on the front and XZT on the rear. They don't make the XZT anymore and when I needed new tires for this truck I went with Continental. They are wearing very quickly and I will probably replace them in the spring. By then they will only have 20-25,000 miles. Not good for that type of tire. I don't know what brand I will go with then as I want to go from a 245/70-19. 5 to a 285/70-19. 5. Not many choices out there for that.

I would look at the Bridgestones especially if you plan to haul any loads. Also there tread design is descent in mud and snow and will easily last 80,000+ miles. I have a brother in law who runs them on his F550 and loves them. I plan to get the ricksons real soon too and that is what I will be putting on 245's and they are M-724F.

I looked at the bridgestone/firestone site and they had only listed a m726el for that size, I 'll keep looking.

for tires that should last 75 to 100k I don't want to make a bad choice and regret it for the life of the tire. the tires that looked at discount tire were $275 to $350 all I can say is ouch!!!.

the 726EL is only for 22. 5 and 24. 5's Look at rickson's website for the size I told you and you can see what they look like. I personally like them because of the all terrain tread style yet will give you longevity too. They do have a stiff sidewall but is great when you tow.

Beware of tire shipping prices... each tire weighs about 90#... . as well as ricksons mounting prices.....

I bought my michelin tires locally ($265 ea. ) and even though ricksons might have been a little cheaper, I saved shipping and the tire shop I bought from mounted and ballanced for free.

The Michelin XDE MS 245/70R 19. 5 12 ply tires I have sing a little but you don't hear it in the truck. 21/32 nds depth, should last about 120K miles

I will buy the tires locally, from discount tire. I just want to get the best all around tire, at a fair price. Discount tire said they would take $20 off each rim and $20 off each tire from ricksons price so thats not bad!

I talked to ricksons and they told me not to go with the bridgestone m724f tire, not agressive enough for snow and mud. he suggested hankook or dunlop.

I am still looking.

I couldnt be happier with my 245 Michelin XDE M/S tires. Wearing like iron, and smooth as silk. Yes, a bit noisy on the highway, but then again a 5" straight pipe and huge intake masks any noise the tires might make quite well. If you ask me, Michelin is hands down the best tire manufacturer out there.
