I would like to upgrade my stock turbo. I am looking for instant spool or quick spool.

I am starting to search this. It has been a year since I last searched this. I am also wondering if there is anything new since I last search this.

Also I did see they came out with the sequential turbos for the fords... ...

My other half is asking me how much and which one and I am not sure what to tell her.

I am not sure what hp/tq I am looking for.

I would love to see low 11's-10-s in the 1/4 mile in my 7000 lbs.

Any input would be great... ... . Oo.

thanks

Either talk to the guys at Source Automotive,High Tech Turbo or PDR for your twin turbo combinations to get you where you want. Although I think low 11's and 10's is going to be a stretch for your Burban they will get you going a tad quicker than you are now. remeber also that to run that fast you need to find ways to stop that truck also and you may want to start looking for upgrades for that also.

If I was going to run a single on your Suburban I would run a S300 framed variant like a 64/71/13SS from HTT and not much larger as a bigger compressor wheel will slow spool up. If your going to do a set of twins then a 62/71/13SS over a standard S400 with a 1. 00 or 1. 19a/r exhaust housing.

I will through the links for the above websites for you to call and chat with them about compounds or a single charger... ..... Andy

thanks I am going to look into this....

I do understand about the stopping but The suburban is just not fast enough yet to worry about this. I ran this many times and all is good for the stopping so farOo.

I am lined up again some stronger cars this year that I need to keep up with and they are running 12 for now. I need to keep in front of them with building the burban to hold the power.

Like you said last year I need alot more air and this is what I need to do asap if the price is right... ... .

thanks for the input..... Oo.

ps I will be at the spring flingOo. Oo.

For the power level you must be planning to make, and quick spooling, only compound turbos will work. No single turbo will give fast spooling and yet support over 700 HP. I suggest you look into the BD twin turbo setups.

Why the bd setup? Just wondering are they better or just well known?

I was looking at what they have to offer ..... alot of $$$$$$

I was hoping I could find something with a lower $$$$ factor... .

If you wonder whether BD compound turbos are worth the money, listen to John Todd who designed them. He has 40 years of experience in turbocharging. you might also read TDR Issue 65, p. 89; Issue 60, p. 94; Issue 63, p. 85.

I'm sure this will be my next, and possibly last, LOL, upgrade. Already have the Super B and am pleased with it. My main concern now is pulling the pan for the extra turbo drain, as I understand the 12 valve engines are not designed for an extra drain to the block. Not looking forward to removing the pan for sure.

Thanks guys for the updates. I am going to call around and see what I can come up with. I did hear alot of good works about the bd setups.

Extra oil drain. I did not even search this yet.

I have to imagine in a suburban, the heater box is a concern with fitting a compound system. You have a somewhat local builder that IMHO is very reasonable and can fab a system just for your needs. PM for details.

What about this?

holset hx 40 ( hx 40 pro ..... super 60).

60 / 65 / 18cm 4 " dp

7 blade billet compressor wheel

10 blade turbine wheel

compressor 60mm inducer 91mm exducer

turbine 74mm exducer 65mm inducer

t3 divided 18cm wastegated

Any input on this?

Hopefully you're also looking at upgrading your injectors and maybe the pump as well. If you've only got enough fuel to make 25 psi boost then just upgrading from your stock turbo will do nothing for you.

Once you've got the fuel, I agree with the others on a good set of twins to replace your stock turbo. You might also look at a Hamilton cam. They seem to be putting out some interesting stuff lately. Then you'll also be looking at head work and other stuff to support that power level.

I am just trying to upgrade my turbo.

I was told it will work ok but lag just a little.

I am getting it for a ok price if I am right. What it one of these worth?

400?

I am worried about the big exhaust gasket... .

HX40's with a 16cm housing are a bit laggy, with an 18 they are REALLY laggy on a DD, esp with mild fueling. Super 40 is a sought after turbo and pretty good for what they are, but that housing is an issue IMO.
