I have a 1998 12 Valve, Quad Cab, which I bought new and it now has 80,000 miles on it and I am thinking about a exhaust brake. The Truck has a Automatic with a upgraded transmission with a shift kit. Any suggestions? how about Pac Brake? I know I have to replace the CTD valve springs. Any ideas about price installed? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I tow a fifth wheel trailer over 10k lbs.

Thanks,

Pac Brake is good. I had a BD Brake in my '98 and was very happy with it. Most any brand will work just fine. You should replace Ex. valve springs w/ 60 lb. ones and you will need some type of TC lockup control. If you're at all interested, I have a virtually new BD TowLoc I'll sell pretty cheap. If you have a CA version truck I wouldn't recommend it though. PM me if you want more info.

When thinking about e-brakes, you need to consider the turbo. Is it now stock and if so, are you going to change it later on to something with a 4" outlet single, or twins????

Try and plan ahead. :-laf

I've had a pacbrake on my 5 speed for around 6 years. If you tow or haul much it is the best upgrade you can make.

I have a 4" remote pac brake on mine. It is a great brake and pac brakes service hs been second to none. They are great over the phone a can get you parts with no problems. A 4" brake gives you a lot of growing room turbo wise and won't limit you to you hx35 like a turbo mount will.
