What is the best filter to use in the stock air box for protecting the engine from contaminants? I'm not worried about air flow, just the longevity of my engine. The filter test on the Duramax web-site (that has shown up a few times on TDR) indicates the AC-Delco is by far the best air filter. I've looked but can't find an AC-Delco filter for our trucks. Does anyone know of any other tests with the Mopar or Fleetguard filters? Any suggestions? Thanks.

BTW, I have a high flow air filter on my '03. I think it is an Air-Aide. From a filtration standpoint I doubt it is the best filter. It does seem to flow air very well. Unfortunately, it requires very frequent cleaning and re-oiling to maintain optimum performance.

Is Fleetguard better than Mopar? I would assume so, but the Mopar filter costs more so I didn't know if I was missing something.

I bought the 4-2-1 kit from Genos, which inculdes the air filter. Until recently, Fleetguard did not make an air filter for the 3rd gens.

I am buying the Fleetguard 4/2/1 pack from Genos and using them on my '05. On my '99 and '92 CTDs, I never ran anything but Wix for every filter on the truck and never had a problem with either truck.

The Fleetguard pack from Genos is a little cheaper than buying the individual Wix filters I need, but shipping about evens it up cost wise + wait time (ordered twice now and both times something was on backorder) = :(

May go back to getting Wix filters locally.

Mopar is Fleetguard. Mopar just has a different color (oil filter anyway) and charge 3 times as much for it.
