What does a Rebuild Cost???????

Supercharged and Turbo charged aviation diesel

Now that we have heard about what's everyones favorite generation of engine. lets hear about what's everyones favorite truck is GEN 1,GEN 2,or GEN 3.

My favorite has to to be gen 2. this is the look that started it all. I don't care for the dated 70's look of the first gen. actually the basic design has its roots from the early 70's. the third gen is ok other than the huge grill :( they took the basic look of the 2nd gen grill and got a little carried away and made it too big, other than the grill I think they're ok. the other thing I don't like is they are built in Mexico. But it's a global economy oh well?

Can't afford a 3rd gen anyway so I'm satisfied with my 94.

94 SLT 2500 4X4 ATS AUTO 370'S 0' PLATE STRAIGHT PIPED 191 DV'S

Best looking trucks

My top three:

#1 -- '91 - '93 regular cab SRW with the big chrome grille.

#2 -- '98 - '02 quad cab SRW long box.

#3 -- '03 - present quad cab DRW.

All four wheel drive, of course. :)

What is wrong with, "built in Mexico"??? Mexico is our neighbor, just like Canada. It's a lot better then if they were built in China or Pakistan. Dodge built in Mexico have been better then those built in St Louis.

after 275k in a first gen ...

120k and counting in a second gen ...

and 50k and counting on a third gen ...

the boss and i firmly believe that the third gen does everything better ...

no getrags ... lift pumps ... vp44's ...

just a big payment

I have my 05...

I had my 96...

Had plenty of time with the 85 W350 at my dad's job... (Dad retired in 2000, truck was still going)

The old 1972-1993 D/W series was positively bulletproof. In fact, I'd take on the current Toyota Tacoma commercial and say it really was meteor-proof. It rode like a brick, but if you actually NEEDED a truck (as opposed to "wanting" one), you couldn't ask for a better laborer.

The 1994-2002 design made Ford and GM step back and think hard. This body told America that you could have some style with the substance in a full-size truck. After a couple of F-series, I bought the 96 and was thoroughly pleased with the job Chrysler did. Was it perfect? No... the brakes and front end required constant attention, and both systems were redesigned twice over the life of that generation. The interior though, was comfortable, roomy, and beautifully laid out.

But on an overall basis, my 05 is definitely the best. The Quad Cab is a perfect compromise between the slightly-too-small extended cabs and a-touch-too-big crew cabs (for my needs, anyway). The interior improved upon the 94-02 - everything is easy to reach and operate. The suspension is light years ahead of the W350, which is remarkable for a truck with a solid axle. This rig comes to a stop like my dad's old 88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe - on a dime with change. And finally, the current body has a large complete set of taillights - was it really necessary to wait so long for separate turn/hazard lights, DC?
