Train wreckers? any Hulcher, RJ Coreman, Cranemaster.....

I just heard the last couple of minutes of the discussion. So, I didnt hear what car it is. But I just heard that the best "green" car of the year is not a hybrid, but a diesel

It's the Audi A3 TDI

Just read that. Amazing (or maybe not!)!

The Prius wins hands down for city driving but I'll take on anyone with the Jetta when it come's to highway mileage. Any info on the mileage figures for the Audi? Never mind... I just Googled it:

"During last fall's Audi Mileage Marathon, the A3 TDIs averaged over 50 mpg crossing the country. "

Jeez... not to shabby. OK, I'm going to need a new set of injectors before I challenge the Audi.

I want a new VW Golf TDI.

I just heard the Golf TDI got the highest score Consumer Reports has issued to a car in YEARS, overall score of 88, which is A++ in Consumer Reports terms! The diesel outscored Hondas, Toyotas, and even VW's own gas version! This was in the "hatchback" category.

The highest scorer in the "small sedan" category is the Jetta TDI, again beating out the Japanese gassers and even its own gasser version! I believe this score was 86. Most of the highest rated vehicles in the top 10 are Volkswages, with the highest overall scores going to the Golf TDI and the Jetta TDI! Not sure if the Audi was included or not. I heard this on Clark Howard's show Roll on diesel power!!

My buddy's a VW dealer and he's extremely happy with the newest Jetta TDI. Warranty claims are way down from previous models with the same odometer mileage. The only problem is availability. VW can make more dough selling them elsewhere due to the weak US dollar they've told him. Excellent build quality on those buggers. I felt like I'd walk away from a major crash if it happened.

And American manufacturers don't think there's a market for a car like this. This is one of the reasons they're seeing hard times- they all want to be followers, not leaders.

We took a look at a Jetta Sport Wagon TDI a few days ago. Quite a nice vehicle. It is a little smaller than I really want, but very nice all the same.
