OK, I'm sick and tired of these whimpy 230 injectors. No mater what I do I can't get better than 28lbs of boost. And I have done a lot.

The next thing is I'm porting the head, having a header made then concidering propane.

What I would like is some input from you guys on what injectors your running and how well you like them. I know my pump is a limiting factor. I have heard of these new POD units. Any one running them? Adjusting for smoke is easy, it's getting it is the problem.

Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Dave, I believe POD stands for "Prince of Darkness" which are the Lucas injectors. It appears that you already have them? I could be wrong on this however... . perhaps it is a different Lucas injector. If you do not have the same then Piers has deal going on them this month:

Do you have an intercooler on your 91? Other than that you look pretty maxed out for a 1st gen except for the additional potential mods you mention.

You might go to a smaller housing for better off the line acceleration. It seems alot of guys are running 12cm with success. Wouldn't be my choice for alot of towing however.

Perhaps a second gen motor is in order? A pretty penny for sure but some have gone that route in thier quest for power. Talk about a sleeper - you'd have a blast blowing by the newer trucks with that "old" dodge.

Runing the POD injecter. Just put them in and I am Happy:p Had to turn my power screw back out 1 1/2 turns to keep my EGT under control, They are hot. Have you maxted out your pump setting. I am runing 1. 5 and loving it.

Harlan:rolleyes:

KMC, no, the injectors I have are not the PODs. And no my pump is not maxed out. If I turn it up very far it smokes at idle. I don't want it to smoke until full throttle.

Harlan, what did the injectors do to your over all driveability? How much boost will it make now. You say you had to turn down the pump for heat? I can work around that. I just wish I could generate some heat. Pulling Snoqualimie pass at 70 mph I can maybe make 650-700 degrees[post turbo].

I would just like to have a little something left rather than have everything maxed out. I'm also not sure if these injectors I have now are what they say they are. I think I'll pull one and see if Cummins has a breakdown of the numbers.

Well, thanks for the input guys. I'm greatfull

hdm48, I was out to see Piers today. Had the pump timed to 15* and the POD's installed. I'll need to run it a few days to report on them but they do seem to be a major improvement over the 180's I had in. My boost gauge is an Auto-Meter boost/vacuum. I was getting about 22-23lbs boost which I guesstimated since the markings on the gauge stop at 20psi. (I know, but all it gave me was 14psi when it was stock) Anyway, now the darn guage goes so far it reads on the suck side. . LOL. . :D :D

We had horrendous rain today so I could not really give it a workout. There is pretty dark smoke at 60 MPH when I go WOT. but it really boogies too. I'm sure I can moderate that with some tweeking.

My pump timing was off quite a bit from what I thought it was set at. (timing pin method was used previously)

Cruise temps seemed normal. In discussion with Al and Piers they both said that you could see as much as 350- 400*F error in post-turbo pyro mounting. That would be at full load/max boost. (I'm going to re-mount my sensor as soon as I can I think)

Anyway, between timing, and POD's so far it idles much nicer, the power comes on sooner at lower RPM and it is mmmm..... smoother is the only way to describe it. There doesn't seem to be ANY sense of 'coarseness' about the acceleration. Al is working on a sweet little GM with a transplant CTD. 600HP to the ground.

Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes. So far... worth the time and $$.

Regards, Bob

LUCAS P.O.D. INJECTORS

I put the LUCAS injectors in sat night. Got to try it out sunday,WOW i got 41# boost !The pyro gauge jumped out of my pillar mount and jumped into the glove box (it must have said "the hell with this!") :D I guess i'll have to turn the pump down a little. :{ The egt's gained about 100 degrees at "normal" cruising speed. Have to pull my trailer one of these days to give it a real test. ;)

hdm48= After the insalation of the POD injecters and setting my pump at 1. 5 the truck ran vary smothly. My EGT went out of sight. I was watching the boost gage and it was up to 38 and climing, and I looked at EGT and pulled my foot out . It was reading 1350 and climing like my boost. After a word with Piers I started backing down my high presser fuel till the EGT was in the manigable rang. About 1 1/2 turns. Still have a lot more power than when I started. One small problem- Started pushing oil out my road tube. Getting to much presser in the crank case at top boost. This is now solved by the backing of of the fuel and stablising the presser and boost.
