Has anybody ever seen a camper not exactly like this BUT

Satelite Internet service

Hey, guys,

Looking to get a gooseneck hitch for my '01. 5 2500 quad cab shortbed - any recommendations as to what brands/models to look at? Been looking at B&W, Drawtite, and Hidden Hitch under-bed models... Any particularly good sales/deals going on out there right now?

I just put a BW in my truck. Installation is pretty easy, instructions have illustrations for another application (different year). Compared to some interesting varieties of GN hitches, this one is really clean. Make sure you get an extension harness for your wiring or see the thread discussing connections.

As for price, unless you live by a hitch shop, it seems that the guy on ebay (wyattearpdodge) sells them for as reasonable as you can get. If you spend about $50 worth of time searching, you can save about $25 on the cost is what I found. :D

I really like the looks of the Quick Goose by Curt Manufacturing. It's the same idea as the B&W except you don't even have to get into the bed to remove the ball. There's a lever under the wheel-well that works the ball. This also looks like it has a better finish than the B&W and you don't have to deal with that gray powdercoating that B&W uses.

I've never seen one for less than $400 though. :(

Check 'em out:

I'm also looking at the b&w hitch with the companion 5th wheel.

So Far:

B&W Factory: 364 turnover 687 companion total w ship 1127

T&R Shop : 329 turnover 649 companion total w ship 1052

Anyone recommend any better?

Think I'll be happy with the turnover and companion?

Do you have to put 2 more holes in the bed for the gooseneck safty chains.

Does the companion hitch clamp on the goosneck ball or does it just replace the ball and slide in the hole?

Thanks!

To put the ball down, simply disengage the ball securement system. And finish it off with a protective cap. (included)

looks like you still have to get in the bed... to put the dust cover on... i would be more comfy with the b&w myself. i have it already and love it. ill be adding the companion soon.

I have a pop up brand that will fit a 3rd generation that is new in the box, that i will sell for $275 plus shipping. The ball moves up and down below bed level, by pulling a handle under the fender well. It is complete with all hardware and information. I just decided not to go the gooseneck route www.popuphitch.com/

I've been very satisfied with the CODY hitches i have. You have to climb in the bed to flip the ball over, but there's no linkage in the wheelwell to rust. You should be able to purchase one for less than $300.

B/W gets my vote..... and it's 4 more holes in bed for the safety chain u-bolts.

Mine was under $500 installed. Have someone that knows how install this or you might end up with more than the 5 holes. Also ask them to cut the wheel well lever access with a hole saw, mine was done with a sawzall or whatever - not good.

It lays flat enough that I don't think of padding when loading drywall.
