A Banks exhaust question

I would like to put a true 4" exaust on my truck because I want to later add a ez and some injectors or something similar. I have removed the muffler, but kept the resonator on my current stock exaust. Which muffler system will sound similar to what I have now? I don't want any drone, but I do like to be noticed.

Others may disagree but I think that Banks has the best system out right now. Has a great sound, no drone at all and looks awesome. The only issue is that it is probably the most expensive out there. If I had to do it all again I would still choose the Banks Monster Exhaust. I think it comes in both Aluminized and Stainless. I bought the stainless so I would not have to worry about it again.

Thanks

Phil

I know that there are a lot of guys out there who like straight pipe'd CTD's. My neighbors son has one and it sounds great from the outside but everyone I have spoken to says that there is a drone and it can get very loud in the cab.

If I were a bit younger I may go for it but I wanted something that sounded nice but did not get too loud in the cab and have that dreaded drone. For me the Banks was it.

Just my $0. 02 cents. :)

the key to running a straight pipe is adding sound deadener to the inside of the cab...

when I bought my truck, it had stacks... it was pretty dang loud inside...

I put 5" straight exhaust on it, and it was EAR SPLITTING!!!!!

I put a 27" long muffler on it, and it was livable...

then I lined the interior w/ lead sheet... it was dead silent almost.

I went back w/ straight pipe, welded all the seams, and added a couple extra exhaust hangers, and now it's quieter inside than it was with the muffler before! :D

Alot of guys are preaching no muffler. I bought in and put 4" on my truck with no muffler and did the soundproofing thing. My personal opinion is that if you put on alot of miles or tow alot and dont want to listen to a loud exhaust you better put on a muffler and or resonator. I did mine without figuring I can always add and believe me im going to be adding. So if you cut the muffler off the last car you drove you should probably do this one to. My advice is to ride in a truck with 4" and no muffler at all speeds and then decide for yourself. Ones opinion of "silent" may differ from yours... .

I like the straight pipe sound outside, but the reason I left the resonator on is because of the droane at highway speeds and while towing. I am 21 years old and like loud stuff, but I also do alot of towing and highway driving. Do they make a 4" resonator or something to keep the noise and drone out of the cab (besides sound proffing)?

My vote is for the Dynomax Bullet race Muffler, Availabke at most napas for around $40. It was designed for race engines, so it is free flowing, but takes the edge off of the straightpipe bark

I have a stock exhaust system on my truck - and just got a ME kit for it. Will the sound inside the truck still be bearable with the muffler off and straight pipe in? I am leaving the resinator on and the stock tail pipe (3"). I imagine it will be somewhat louder, but should not be too bad - what do you think?

I think the whole straight pipe thing should obviously be looked at as a "to each there own". I drive my truck everyday, and am on the road all the time, the drone does'nt bother me at all. As a matter of fact- I like it!! Kinda sounds like a Union Pacific Locomotive going down the highway.
