Todd (and to anybody else who still wants to listen):
Thank you for replying in a level-headed manner. Please let me ask you a question: In what way do you think I have slandered SBC? I have accused them of lying, that is all I can think of. Beyond that, I have not called anyone names (I have, however, referred to crappy products), nor flamed anyone. I do remember Peter going off on me publically AND posting a private email for public view.
I went public with the story because SBC refused to answer their email when I wrote to ask why they were going back on their promise to cover the labor charge, and why they were offering the paltry sum of $200. I got NO response. That is why I came here. I figured it would be beneficial to let others know that SBC is not perfect and they are not the vendor that gives awesome customer service that many here seem to feel that they are. I'm sure there are lots of satisified customers of SBC; I however, am not one of them.
Peter has not attempted to contact me in any way since all of this began. I'm certainly not going to contact him. I feel that the ball is in his court. He ignored my email, though he certainly got it since he posted it publically.
How can I be expected to drop this? If I drop it, then it will be forgotten, and SBC will continue to get business from this forum. And I'll still be out a bunch of money AND have a clutch that still does not work properly (or if it does, I don't see how the rest of you put up with it). I invite anyone who wants to sample this clutch to drive my truck and see what you think, then maybe you'll see what I mean.
As for my website, I own the f-body.org domain. My own website is in a subdirectory of that domain. I do not advertise my issues with SBC on the
www.f-body.org website. It is only on my personal web page for my truck, which is linked in my signature.
Yes, I posted about SBC on the Duramax site. I will also post about them to the Ford-Diesel site and any other site when the opportunity presents itself. It's part of being a dissatisfied customer. Remember the saying, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil. " Well, the louder I complain, the more people will notice and will think twice before doing business with SBC, and that is exactly my goal. If they refuse to resolve this situation, then it tells me that eventually there will be somebody else getting screwed by them. It is my hope to avoid that by convincing people to shop elsewhere. Otherwise, eventually, somebody else will join me in making noise.
*IF* SBC was to contact me and we were to come to an agreement, I would be happy to publically post a retraction of what I have said, remove the remarks from my signature and website, and I could become one of the horn-tooters in SBC's favor.
I don't enjoy having to do this. I do it because I'm fed up with companies treating people like crap. It's happened to me far too many times, especially related to this truck. Anybody remember what I went through with FourWheelParts and Rancho just to get the missing parts so I could install my shocks? I also never experienced the top-notch customer service that Edge is supposedly known for when my EZ died. At least 3-4 people told me that when they contacted Edge about their dead EZ, they shipped them out a new one and included a postage-paid return container for the old one. When _I_ called about it, they said I had to send it in and they'd test it and then send a new one. That took 7-10 days. Stuff like that really gets to me after a while. So when I read all this praise about SBC and decide to buy their clutch based solely on that, and then I get screwed, it's time to act.
I do not intend to continue posting about it here, other than an occaisonal reference to my website for details. I will let the information on my website speak for itself.
I would prefer to get back to the business of discussing our trucks here, but unless SBC decides to make good on their promises, my signature will continue to contain information about them. I have revised it to simply point people to my website instead of saying anything specific. That is the best I can do.
