The tires on my Rickson 19. 5" wheels are going to need replacement in the not too distant future (some of the blame goes to my '96 RAM with its pull-to-the-right problem that ate up two of them).

So... where's the best (cheapest?) place to buy 19. 5" tires? Tire Rack doesn't carry them, and most of the regular tire shops I've called here in the Bay Area don't carry them either.

I think Rickson had pretty good prices on tires, but I'd still have to find somewhere that can match-mount the tires, and odds are if I find a place that can, they'll carry tires too and may be able to give me a decent price on a set of six.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Let me also add that there are some vendors out there that are top notch in my book:

Diesel Dynamics. These guys are awesome. I bought an HX-40 from them a number of months ago. My EGTs were still very high and I never did see more than 30 psi of boost. They tried to troubleshoot with me on the phone, but nothing worked. Finally they said bring it out and we'll take care of it. So I took a weekend and drove the Vegas. Despite a scheduling error, they still fit in me and worked on my truck. They pulled the turbo, changed the wastegate, pulled the entire intake tract, and ensured that everything was as it should be. And they did find a few problems here and there that they corrected. Cost to me? NOTIHNG other than the trip. And I got to meet a great bunch of people.

Diesel Injection of Pittsburgh. Another outstanding shop. Whatever I don't buy from DD, I buy from these guys. They've gone out of their way to help me time and time again.

As for others that I have said negative things about, there was always a reason. I'm sure Todd, like many others, are ignoring the fact that South Bend Clutch LIED TO ME AT LEAST TWO TIMES about how they would handle the situation. They completely ignore that fact. I have the facts on my side; all they have is emotion, because I'm attacking a vendor that they happen to like because they've been treated well. Great, I'm happy for them. Me, I got screwed. And I won't forget it, and I won't stop telling people about it until the situation is resolved, and only SBC can resolve it... and they can resolve it by doing what they originally promised, not by posting flames and trying to slam me publically.

Nice, Todd - real nice.

Not that I think Rob was correct in his clutch problem (no need to rehash the details again) but your response is a bit childish.

A bit?

To answer RobG's question, go to a commercial truck tire shop; they should have a nice selection from which you can choose.

Thanks Fester... I sorta figured that, but I was hoping somebody might be able to name a specific store (or chain thereof) in the area. I've been digging around for tire places and haven't seen any that list commercial tires.

Rob

Cumming Henderson Tire Service in Santa Clara has tires for ANYTHING. They specialize in the Big Rigs to the Earth Movers. They even were able to fit my '46 Willy's with original military tires.

Welcome to the FRIENDLY TDR!!!

Yes, Rob G posted about his experience and then proceeded to go into detail about 'his side' of the story. He was FLAMED well enough to say that he would not be back.

Well, WELCOME BACK!!!

Although I did not agree with the way Rob G handled the beginning of the post, I DEFINITELY respect ANYONE'S opinion, good or bad. How else to make an informed decision???

And it appears what Rob G did really got under Todd T's skin enough for Todd T to do the same untactful attack that Rob G is so infamous for. GET A CLUE!!! Your doing the same damned thing!!! He may WELL deserve it, but it kinda makes YOU look just as bad!!!

Opinions are like a**holes... everyone's got 'em, and THAT is why these forums were started. To get BIASED and UNBIASED opinions on stuff that works, and problems.

So I will CONTINUE to get it ALL, one or both sides so I may make an intelligent and informed decision.

Be a little more THICK SKINNED and don't take everything to heart. If someone flames ya, flame 'em back, don't run to 'mommy' for comfort.

SO TO ALL... KEEP IT ALL CUMMING, it is ALL welcome, and useful.

OK, off the box now! :D :D :D

We have Judge and Jury here at the TDR...

Let it go!!!!

Rob, so what kind of mileage did you get... You towed your cars?? Brakes on the trailer?

I will admit that what I said probably wasn’t in MY best interest or in good taste. For that I apologize, But what is nagging at me, is the way that Rob has gone about this whole event. He brought his story to the TDR forum first. And it was a vengeful attack when he did it. he then demanded fair treatment from SBC. Because they allegedly lied to him. He got smoked by the TDR members, I will admit to that. But not by ME. I sat, and waited, and waited for it to be resolved and the two parties kiss and make up. They still have not. The reason they have not is because Mr. Glover will not quit his relentless attack against South Bend. He has a note in his signature, he posts on here with that. He has been talking to the guys at the Duramax site. Further smearing the name of SBC. He is using his organizations web site to host his attack against SBC for all of the F-body owners to see. (I would like to think Rob, you have chosen your words carefully, as acting on the organizations behalf, you have left them open and liable for litigation if it were to come to that) I have nothing to do with SBC and have never used their products. But to see this unfairly sided attack upon one of the TDR (OUR) vendors, and no one get in a uproar over it, is just flooring, to me.

My proposal Rob, and Peter, take this off ours, and all other forums, work it out and then come back to us with the details of your big sloppy kiss afterwards. :D We don’t need this. I am truly sorry for your troubles and would not wish that kind of hardship on anyone.

Rob, as I see it, Peter has no reason to try and make good on what ever it is you think he should. From the start you have slandered he and his companies name and reputation and continue to do that in any forum you can. You have not behaved like a victim, nor have you earned any pity. If you had been totally gentleman like and remained that way, I would see how SBC would have only one choice, MAKE GOOD for this guy. its obvious you are a great asset for any vendor to welcome in.

Let me ask you this, you have only demanded fair treatment from SBC from the start, which is your right. At what point with your negative advertising do you become even? (Answer: NEVER) Is Peter supposed to call you after he has determined that you have cost him $2200 in lost business. Is that what you call fair. Take this off here, clean up your site and signature and call Peter, work it out. start the call with “I’m sorry, I lost my cool and I have corrected the damage” then get down to business. :D

Now I too, will break up my soapbox and burn it for heat, its cold outside today. :D

one more thing

I wont forget this either, and until this member removes his negative advertising from his signature, I will continue to haunt him and show the other side of the story, where allowed.

this kind of thing should not be tolerated. by anyone.

how would you like it if I put "Rob G sucks" or how about the name of one of this site's biggest contributers, in my signature would that be allowed?

Rob, that was an example, not that I think that. :D

this is ridiculous, one of two things happened, it was either defective or it was installed wrong. he sent you a new one, youre using it, it works. split the difference in the labor cost to reinstall it, and be done with it.

Just had to put in my .02's

I joined the TDR to learn about my truck and things I could do to my truck. Hoping to save myself some money and aggravation.

To do this I need to hear about the good and the bad, look at facts and pick whats best. If someone has a problem with a company I want to know about it. It might be me the next time.

Maybe the way to fix this is to put up a list of Satisfied or Dissatisfied customers. IE as in EBAY

That way someone could look at a venders response list, how many negitives or postives.

Sorry for rambling, but there are alot of Venders out there some better than others, I just want the best shot at picking the right ones for me.

Thanks

Scott

ToddT... .

I'm not taking sides here. . I've in person, talked to both of these people... We don't need a self appointed judge and jury.

What say we stick to the original forum question and answer that as best we can... . You were the one to bring this back out again...

I understand that you don't like Rob's sig... you should pay attention to more of the members sigs' you could find some of those questionable also, if you looked hard enuf. .

:( I'm done,

Colin

to get back to the original question.....

according to willyslover you may be able to get 19. 5's from costco. i went yesterday while shopping with the faince and asked. the reular guy behind the counter didn't know. he said he asked the manager and i waited, but eventually had to get back to business after a long wait. i will find out, maybe not soon enough for you, but you should call...

Todd (and to anybody else who still wants to listen):

Thank you for replying in a level-headed manner. Please let me ask you a question: In what way do you think I have slandered SBC? I have accused them of lying, that is all I can think of. Beyond that, I have not called anyone names (I have, however, referred to crappy products), nor flamed anyone. I do remember Peter going off on me publically AND posting a private email for public view.

I went public with the story because SBC refused to answer their email when I wrote to ask why they were going back on their promise to cover the labor charge, and why they were offering the paltry sum of $200. I got NO response. That is why I came here. I figured it would be beneficial to let others know that SBC is not perfect and they are not the vendor that gives awesome customer service that many here seem to feel that they are. I'm sure there are lots of satisified customers of SBC; I however, am not one of them.

Peter has not attempted to contact me in any way since all of this began. I'm certainly not going to contact him. I feel that the ball is in his court. He ignored my email, though he certainly got it since he posted it publically.

How can I be expected to drop this? If I drop it, then it will be forgotten, and SBC will continue to get business from this forum. And I'll still be out a bunch of money AND have a clutch that still does not work properly (or if it does, I don't see how the rest of you put up with it). I invite anyone who wants to sample this clutch to drive my truck and see what you think, then maybe you'll see what I mean.

As for my website, I own the f-body.org domain. My own website is in a subdirectory of that domain. I do not advertise my issues with SBC on the www.f-body.org website. It is only on my personal web page for my truck, which is linked in my signature.

Yes, I posted about SBC on the Duramax site. I will also post about them to the Ford-Diesel site and any other site when the opportunity presents itself. It's part of being a dissatisfied customer. Remember the saying, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil. " Well, the louder I complain, the more people will notice and will think twice before doing business with SBC, and that is exactly my goal. If they refuse to resolve this situation, then it tells me that eventually there will be somebody else getting screwed by them. It is my hope to avoid that by convincing people to shop elsewhere. Otherwise, eventually, somebody else will join me in making noise.

*IF* SBC was to contact me and we were to come to an agreement, I would be happy to publically post a retraction of what I have said, remove the remarks from my signature and website, and I could become one of the horn-tooters in SBC's favor.

I don't enjoy having to do this. I do it because I'm fed up with companies treating people like crap. It's happened to me far too many times, especially related to this truck. Anybody remember what I went through with FourWheelParts and Rancho just to get the missing parts so I could install my shocks? I also never experienced the top-notch customer service that Edge is supposedly known for when my EZ died. At least 3-4 people told me that when they contacted Edge about their dead EZ, they shipped them out a new one and included a postage-paid return container for the old one. When _I_ called about it, they said I had to send it in and they'd test it and then send a new one. That took 7-10 days. Stuff like that really gets to me after a while. So when I read all this praise about SBC and decide to buy their clutch based solely on that, and then I get screwed, it's time to act.

I do not intend to continue posting about it here, other than an occaisonal reference to my website for details. I will let the information on my website speak for itself.

I would prefer to get back to the business of discussing our trucks here, but unless SBC decides to make good on their promises, my signature will continue to contain information about them. I have revised it to simply point people to my website instead of saying anything specific. That is the best I can do.

Rob
