I've used the Snap-On one only. It seems to work just fine. I've heard the gear puller in the Miller kit is better (I think it was Joe Donnelly that mentioned that).

With the S-O kit, I'd recommend putting a washer under the bolts on the puller. The gear on my truck was really stuck on tight and the bolt head began to chew up the plate surface as I tightend them down.

Either kit will do the job.

SP500

I bought the Snap-On SP500 and have used it 5 times. It works just fine and like JGK said use washers on the puller bolts. I found that running a tap through the gear holes helps a lot as all the ones I worked on had crud in them. The first one I tried was my own '98 and one of the bolts started really binding up. It worked fine after cleaning the threads.
