I ordered a walker muffler #22572 today and was wondering where the best place to mount the muffler would be. I currently have removed the resonator and the stock muffler and replaced them with a Dynomax Ultra Flo. I mounted the ultra flo where the resonator was and it was fine for the past year but now I have a terrible drone in the cab, plus I am ready for something different. Should I mount it where the ultra flo is or move it back towards the tail like the stock muffler used to be. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Bob, do you get any drone at all and do you have the resonator intact? I might remove the resonator and stock muffler and put a single 4" muffler instead, I'm just worried about the dreaded drone problem.

Just spoke to an Allied rep, he recommended the 8990-24 which is a 4" straight through but 24" length. Which p/n did you use for the 36" model? He also mentioned they have a 4" system from turbo back, are you using their system or just their muffler with the stock downpipe (lengthened?) and tailpipe? Sorry for all the Q's but I'm intrigued by the no drone thing.

well I thought it was 36"

8990-24 is the correct part number and yes it is 24" not 36"

I was going by memory :( must of been a senior moment :)

OK Bob, thanks for looking that up. The full system sure looks sweet but is probably beyond my budget right now, plus they don't have a Canadian distributor anyways. I may just replace the stock muffler with a 4" Allied or similar and try it in the stock location with the resonator intact.

Slightly Modified you're not really getting an answer to your question. I don't think it's well known as to what causes the drone, you may just have to try it in the stock location and let us know what happens :).
