I was just browsing those links you guys mentioned, and I noticed that both are completely out of 380 ACP. I bought the last 2 boxes at our local gun shop the other day. Anyone know what's up with the lack of availability of that round?

I have noticed in several stores (Cabelas, Sportsman's Warehouse, and even WallyMart) that the bulk and/or usually lower priced ammo is gone in the popular calibers. I am going to have to order bulk 7. 62x39. I bought the last 100 pack of . 380 at Walmart today. I load for . 40, but even component bullets are getting hard to find. One thing that can kill you on ordering ammo is the shipping cost. For me, it might cost a little more to order from Cabela's, but it ships for free to the local store. I quit doing business with Sportsmans Guide. They won't ship ammo to Reno and won't tell me why. They send out a letter stating that it could be because of local ordinances (not), current law suits, etc. I even asked if there was an issue with the local government that I should know about so I could contact the City Council if needed. Still no go. Nuts on 'em. :-{}

you know, I've been looking at these web sites you guys are linking to, and comparing to what I'm paying at gun shows here on the west coast, and the gun show prices stomp all over web prices. Look at Crossroads Gun shows, find the schedule, and take a dolly. Thats the best prices I've seen for . 380, 357, 45, & 7. 62. Otherwise, the web might be good if you're in the sticks.

Justin-You're right about everyone being out of 380. There is a gun store by me in Irwin that usually has a couple boxes but most of the other places around are always out. Having a hard time finding more than a box or two of 38, 357, and 45 also.

Chicken Little

This is called the 'chicken little syndrome'. Give it a few months and the ammo will back on the shelves. Since just before the election black rifles and lots of handgun ammo have been scarfed up. Just give it some time, or like you said, buy it at the gun shows, it always seems to be cheaper.

There were people saying just that in late 93..... then AWB 94 came along.

There's a much greater change of things like this being "banned" than if the other candidate won.

I just want the ammo prices to drop back to normal after all the panic buying is done. :{

I ended up finding some over at A & S in Youngwood. I bought the wife a Walther PPK/S as an early Valentine's day gift and she has been going through quite a bit of . 380 practice ammo.

Can't even get .22LR!

I've been to Wally Mart, Sportsman's Warehouse, and Cabela's and no one has . 22LR! Cabela's had some specialty stuff, but no bricks. Checked a few online places, and it's all backordered. The fellow at Cabela's said 3 MONTHS!#@$%! I'm going to be buying guns to match what ammo I can find.

I'm still having a hard time finding ammo also, I went to Dicks a week ago to get some 5. 56/223, they had a sale going on if you bought ten boxes, however there is a Dicks policy that you can only buy 3 boxes of ANY ammo. They had about 5 boxes of 223 and 9mm, but had no 45, 44, 357, 38, or 380.

I have only been able to get specialty ammo from Cabelas... my bulk order has been on back order for over 2 months. I have been able to pick up some Remington and reloads at the guns shows and a ******* order box or 2 at WalMart, but other than that it 'aint happening.
